My Mac currently has version 4.3 Beta 2 (4.30.0.0213) on it. When I try to download the updates, of 559.2MB. I've tried switching the update channel to default, restarting Logos, and restarting my computer. Any ideas?
Hi Jesse. I'm afraid I'm not a Beta tester, but I thought it would be worth pointing out that if you posted your request for help in the Mac Beta forum you might get more responses. Hope you find a solution soon!
You might try manually installing the latest Beta. Download from http://downloads.logos.com/LBS4/LBS4MacInstallerBeta/Logos4Mac.dmg
If you need any further information, just ask.
BTW: The Mac Beta forum seems to have pretty well dried up. Most users are asking their questions here.
Since discussing Mac Beta, Logos may move this thread to Mac Beta forum.
Am aware Logos 4 Mac (Stable and Beta) download files in stages => Download resources separated into a couple of times
Current Beta version is Logos 4.3 Beta 5, hence wondering about download issues (and corresponding diagnostic log file content).
Wiki page Mac Troubleshooting => Update Error section includes current Beta download link:
Wiki page Mac Troubleshooting => How to Report Bugs in Logos 4 Mac section includes link to Mac Diagnostic Logging since Logos 4.3 Beta 5 changed diagnostic logging default to match PC (turned off).
Wonder if Logos should update Bug support page => http://www.logos.com/mac/support/bugs (plagiarize wiki How to Report Bugs in Logos 4 Mac section a bit)
Keep Smiling [:)]
my macpro was stuck on the aforementioned beta so I took the manual download advice and it worked! It looks like beta 2 had an issue stalling future downloads from the auto downloader. Thanks again!

I'm glad you've got the program updating again. I just thought I would point out that if you change the update channel to default, you will no longer receive the updates from the Beta channel causing your program not to update until the Stable channel 'catches up' to the version you have installed; in this case, until 4.3 is released to the Stable channel.
You can find more information about Update Channels on this page of the public wiki: http://wiki.logos.com/The_Logos_4_Beta_Program#Understanding_update_channels
If your intension was to transition back to the Stable Channel you can find information about doing so here: http://wiki.logos.com/Mac_Troubleshooting#Want_to_downgrade_from_Beta_to_Stable
Great. Downloaded and installed and now the proud owner of 4.3 beta 8. Thanks. Now, what about the slowness. Scrolling seems particularly painfully slow; Is there an easy fix for that. (Like others on this part of forum, Logos 4 for Mac is the slowest software I have. I have bibleworks running on VMWare partition and it is very fast. Thanks again for update tip.

Wonder which resource(s) are slow to scroll ?
A screenshot would be helpful for replication.
Here is one that gives me fits. It scrolls, but it if I swipe the trackpad 2 or 3 times in a row to move down a bunch of lines quickly, it moves down one screen, and then stops for 2 or 3 seconds, and then continues to the next page, etc. It just seems like some kind of bug... I can live with it - it is just frustrating. It may have something to do with the verse format as opposed to the paragraph format?? Thanks.

While scrolling ESV many times for Scrolling: Reverse Interlinear Bible, which can be very slow at times learned if interlinear pane at bottom is updating, then scrolling is slow. Workaround for scrolling speed is turning off interlinear pane. Noticing the interlinear pane adds Greek lemma, can use Right Click to display lemma (then can choose many items).
Screen shot shows ESV with interlinear pane turned off with mouse hovering on Rejoice (so lemma and morphology are displayed at bottom of screen). Also, screen capture shows one set of Logos Greek Morphology filters highlighting Greek grammatical usage in English reverse interlinear and Greek. Forum week has Featured Forum Week Sales (Round 3) with Greek New Testament Discourse Bundle (7 vols.) on sale until Sunday 19 Jun 2011, so included High Definition ESV, Lexham Discourse Greek New Testament, and part of Discourse Grammar for comparison:
In Philippians 4:4-8, Paul used 7 imperatives (commands). In "The Lexham High Definition New Testament: ESV Edition" and "The Lexham Discourse Greek New Testament" (LDGNT), am using a visual filter of emphasis (bold) so have option to turn on Logos Greek Morphology visual filters in LDGNT and still see emphasized words.
WIki Extended Tips for Visual Filters => Examples of visual filters section includes Logos Greek Morphology visual filters with custom highlighting styles.
One caution for interlinear: Greek is not English. Range of word meaning is often different. Also word order is different (indicated by numeric subscript in reverse interlinear).
Great stuff. Love the highlighted by morphology thing, but after 30' of poking around, I must admit total failure to implement.
BTW, scrolling still bad even with interlinear off, bottom pane off, and with paragraph format on. Also noticed last nite that scrolling even grammar like robertsons is painfully slow.
solution for now is dont scroll; always just use GO TO function, or equivalent. are u using logos 4 on PC; ur interface has some extras mine doesn't. just curious.
thanks much.
Personally learned to open Tools => Highlighting, create a palette (e.g. GREEK MORPHOLOGY), create styles (used grammatical terms) and edited styles. Then created Visual Filters (using Morph Search codes that start with @). Initially created one Visual FIlter for Logos Greek Morphology, then choose to split up into 4 visual filters (can choose on and off). For comparison, Logos 4 PC screen capture:
Thankful for Logos 4 sync capabilities between Mac and PC.

Next to command, I have created 40 shortcuts from several forum discussions (e.g. close all command) plus resources open often (e.g. ESV + Robertson's Greek Grammar).

Apologies, unable to replicate painfully slow (not have track pad so unable to try finger scrolling for comparison); have tried arrow keys, page up/down keys, and wheel mouse, which are usable for me (seems PC bit faster than Mac, could be a mouse configuration setting).
Wiki Mac Troubleshooting => Slow Performance section has many performance tips. Have experienced better responsiveness using 64 bit kernel (and check memory usage since paging is always slow). Am aware that some background processes can slow down interactive response (e.g. Time Machine backup).
How do you get the links to the books in the top bar (all those little icons on the top)?
Danny
Just click on a resource tab and drag it to the desired position on the tool bar. The words in the tab will change to the icon of the book cover from your library. This also works with report windows and layouts. On my toolbar after the 7 Bibles you can see the Text Comparison and Compare Pericopes icons. the next 8 are layouts with custom icons from the right-click menu of the toolbar. After dragging a layout to the toolbar, right-click on it and select an icon from the drop down list. Note that this menu also contains a Delete selection when you no longer need a shortcut to that item.
sweet, thanks!
