Lost all my offline iPad books... it is really starting to get annoying
I lost all my offline iPad books this morning. I did not restart the app or log off. I have since then restarted the app a few times and none of my books except for the ASV bible were marked as "available offline". I do not know if it is due to the last Logos update but the result is the same.
When I upgraded to IOS 5, I had to spend a few hours re-downloading part of my sizable library (not all of it but a good portion of my library). I do not look forward to wasting a few more hours doing the same thing (not to mention my iPhone where I have Logos installed but few books downloaded because of the time involved for the same task.. so much for having Apple's ecosystem... but I do not blame Apple for that).
I have to admit that I am very disappointed by Logos, the ability to mark books on the desktop for download, to do batch downloads, or to tag books downloaded in the past for one click re-downloaded has been requested countless of times since the app was first made available and today we still have nothing
My other bible/ ebooks apps already have that feature implemented and I still do not understand why Logos does not have it yet.
I do not want to spend hours re downloading the same books and risk to have to do the same thing again when the Logos apps decides to clear my downloaded books.
Please Logos try to keep your customers happy with a pretty basic feature.

I can see my "recent books" but I get an "error loading book" message when trying to access them offline.
As far as my previously downloaded books are concerned (more than 1,000), they are just gone except for the ASV and the ISBE that I just re-downloaded.
Unless I am mistaken, the offline access to my downloaded book should not be impacted by the status of the servers (it would not be"offline" access anymore).

Alain, try to restart your device with a hard shut down and see what you have then. This just doesn't sound right.

Thanks, but I I have done that a few times already

The only two with the offline symbol are the ASV and the ISBE that I just re-downloaded. These two work as expected; the rest gives me the error message.I think the Logos app has somehow reset the offline status of all my books to "off" and I do not see any solution but to re-download all books again and do the same for my iPhone (something that I will not do until the download feature is substantially improved)

The same thing happened to me last night/this morning on the plane. I had taken care to download the resources I wanted on my iPad (running iOS 5). I was shocked to find that all of the resources that I had downloaded did not show up. In fact, there was not a single book showing up in the library.
I did a reset but nothing happened.
And then a couple of hours later, all the books in the library suddenly appeared.
I'm glad they're back but the iPad app seems a little flakey.

Wow. Loosing your reading on the plane would be a real disaster (or sitting in the waiting area for a plane). Maybe the Logos programmers knew you needed to have that tasty cracker before getting down to business!
Everytime I see your entries, I think 'Assumption of Moses' (one of my favorites).

Alain, I feel for you!
Dave Dunkin / Bob Pritchett, or someone at Logos - Can you please give us a clear indication of whether/when this will be addressed?
Thanks!

We are working on it. Because this was brought about by a change in the OS, the fix will require an update to iOS 5.0.1 when it becomes available.

Does this mean that we'll have to wait for update to Logos once iOS 5.0.1 is available?

Hi Dave,
One more question, if I download the books now, will the new Logos update retain those downloaded books by moving them to the correct storage, or I will need to redownload them all later again to ensure that they are stored in the correct storage?
Thanks for your confirmation.

Just in case Dave doesn't see this post or you get too anxious to update first... [:)]
It is my understanding that as it stands now, there is the possibility that you may lose your resources, especially if your iOS device runs out of space. If you have PLENTY of space, you will probably be ok. I have an iPad with 64 GB and it is just over half full. NO PROBLEMS. If you have an 8GB iPhone with 7 GB used, you might be in trouble. Remember, sometimes your device will need temporary storage. You have to have a good buffer.

Yes, the app will move downloaded books to a safe location on iOS 5.0.1+.

This is correct.
