Obtaining Backward Compatible Resources for L3

Ok, I have a single license for my Logos resources. I have both LDLS 3.f *AND* L4 and have sync'd my L3 license after purchasing the L4 Portfolio.

There are also some compatible files for LDLS 3.f for some of these same resources, but I don't have them on my computer. E.g. Urbanism in  the Aegean Bronze Age (and I only use this for an example). This just happens to be one of the resource available in the L4 Portfolio. However, I found the corresponding file on the FTP site for L3 and have downloaded it and find it is unlocked in L3 now.

Does anyone know of an "easy" way to A) identify and then B) download a block of these L3 resources that have been included in the L4 release? I know, I may have to manually find the corresponding files (collections) and copy over the files. But, I am hoping for a less tedious method ;-).

Hey, I'd even *BUY* a DVD set from Logos with all the resources and then let L3's Location Manager find them for me and install them. Umm, anybody know if that's available (there used to be a collection DVD set, but I don't know that it's been updated in several years.

Blessings,

Dale

I think bradley said somewhere it may take a few weeks to get all the resources backwards compatible, but that was the plan.

And they will provide us with an update script...

And they will provide us with an update script...

We have 98% of the resources in Portfolio built in the LBXLLS format, and are working on producing the missing 2%.

Building the update script is something I started working on today... but then I got distracted by reading the 316 new messages in the forums. [:)]

Kidding aside, we do have a couple of deployment issues to work out; I hope we should have resource update scripts available early next week.

    Hi Dale,

I must admit I am using L3 less and less, but I still do enjoy the topic searches that are still not available in L4 as well as my PBB resources.

I found a way, but it is not easy or quick. I have a program called beyond compare (www.scooter.com) and I set this to compare the folder where I have my lbxlls files and the Logos4 resources folder. I also set it so that it saw *.logos4 as equal to *.lbxlls files. I then could get a listing of all logos4 files that did not have an equivalent file in my lbxlls folder. I then made a printout of these files and still using Beyond Compare copied the files from the ftp site to my lbxlls folder. I seem to have got most of them that are available.

I have subsequently made purchases of resources and in one instance the resource was a boxed version, so no lbxlls file was offered to download; however L4 discovered and downloaded the resource. I ran the same procedure and found the name of the file concerned and was then able to download the lbxlls file from the ftp server so that I can use the resource in L3.

As soon as the two points I mentioned above are addressed I will be able to move away from L3. Can't wait.
