So, "if" Logos has any specials for Christmas what are you planning for everyone else to purchase for you? Do you have a list? Have you checked it twice? Wink

My wife just asked and I gave her a list of Reformed, apologetic, and counseling resources we hope are on sale.

In 5200+ resources I have neither Hermenia nor Anchor Yale Bible, but I can't imagine a sale that would make me want to purchase them. I always say, "No need to buy anything, you have enough", but Logos always finds a way to tempt me and extract a few hundred more dollars from my bank account. [:D]

Yes I seem to say about the same thing at times: "I always say, "No need to buy anything, you have enough""

But then I always seem to justify just a few more (and literally I do need a few more .... ). If Paul was alive today I wonder if he would say, Bring me the Logos software instead of 'bring with thee, and the books, but especially the parchments' (2 Tim. 4:13).[:D]

Know of one Logos 4 user that is hoping for sale of NIV Application Commentary: New Testament (NIVAC) (20 vols.) and NIV Application Commentary: Old Testament Prophets (NIVAC) (8 vols.)

Personally plan to watch sale items and pray. Thankful for God's providence [:D], albeit wallet may cry a bit more [:'(]

I am hoping the Lexham Discourse Analysis Bundle would go on sale or the Black's New Testament Commentary set.

I have the whole NICOT/NICNT set in hardback, and still can't justify getting in L4 because of the ease of use, unless it was $800 or so. I wish that would go on dramatic sale again.

Most sales are announced right here in the forums. There are other sales available on social media sites such as Facebook and Twitter. Others will have to explain the social media sales though since my knowledge on them is very limited.

Today I saw a pop-up "message" on my Logos 4 homepage today announcing a great price on a very desirable resource at 67% off. I also received a direct marketing glitzy postcard about that sale.

There are also seasonal sales that have become a tradition in the Logos family. We have the March Madness competition. There are usually holiday specials around Resurrection Sunday, Calvin's birthday, Reformation Day, July 4th, the Presidential Inauguration, Pastor Appreciation Month, Black Friday/Cyber Monday, the Twelve Days of Logos. & the 2010 Christmas Collections. I am sure I am forgetting something because the Marketing Department is led by a giuy who does not sleep and will throw a sale for just about any reason.

one more thing: Be sure to read all your emails from Logos once you sign up. Every now & then you will get a "for-your-eyes-only" secret sale offer that is not extended to everybody. The code given for the sale price is to be entered in the checkout page. Logos does ask you not to tell others about these specials. The naughty customers post them all over these forums. You may be able to utilize their codes to get those offers that were not sent to you. (Remember Logos Marketing is run by an insomniac who loves to sell. So he probably won't mind.)

The "pop-up" isn't related to the home page. I see them even though I don't use the homepage regularly. You need to make sure "Show Alerts" is set to yes in the Program Settings window to get the pop-up. I can't make one happen so I can't screenshot it, but it is similar to the popup message you get uin the lower right-hand corner of the window when new/updated resources are found.

The sale items also appear on my homepage as a homepage item, but since I don't use the home page, the alert pop-ups are useful to me.

Sorry, It stayed there until I closed it. It did not reappear for me. It is a message box that scrolls out of the lower right hand corner. It is very similar to the "alert" boxes in Libronix3, if you are familiar with those. l was surprised to see it. I can't recall ever having one before and I did not go changing settings intentionally.

Thanks - but I have all of the possible content classes checked but don't recall ever seeing a home page article "My Logos Messages".

I just changed this to not-checked and back, restarted Logos - no difference (i.e. home page doesn't contain a "My Logos Messages" entry). Maybe the advertising only comes up for e.g. those who own Scholar's and above (or so).

But then again - I'm buying too much here anyway....

I have been a Logos user since 1995, and I just checked my desktop and discovered I have 5,440 resources.I'm 69 years old, and have Parkinson's disease and heart trouble. I cannot imagine that i will ever read all of my resurces in this life. Logos needs to start work immediately on another platform and sync which will work in heaven.
