itouch
Hey Guys,
I was thinking of purchasing the 32gig itouch...I see that Logos can be used and liked the idea of having this available without having the monthly usage charge of a phone...yes I understand that it works better when connected to the internet...doos the qwerty board work with Logos to find a verse and do other things...does this sync with the other computers? What are some of the pros and cons of the itouch...I have seen some of the older post and not very recent ones so was wondering what improvements there with the itouch and Logos 4. Thanks in advance for your post!

danp

Pros:
You can download books and view offline
Cons:
You can't do much offline, accept the books you downloaded
You can't do a Bible Word Study offline
Passage guide doesn't work neither offline
Bottom line, I touch is usable only for reading
EDIT:
If you prefer to use it for reading, I would recommend Ipad

I have an iPod touch and love it... but not for logos. If I had an iPhone, I would use that more than the iPod, simply because it would always be with me out of necessity. I have an iPad and LOVE it. Would that meet your needs instead? A refurbished 32 GB WITH 3G is available right now from Apple for $399. http://store.apple.com/us/product/FC496

Sorry Dan... Let me answer some more of your questions.
doos the qwerty board work with Logos to find a verse and do other things
Yes the qwerty board works with Logos.
does this sync with the other computers?
Kind of... the mobile app is being worked on to improve sync. Notes & Highlights are next on the docket. Reading plans are enabled, but the sync does not currently work well. Favorites sync as well.

Check.
hich is the wife's...I want something to use at work that doesnt take up alot space and more than anything just
Personally, I would not do a lot of reading on an iPod touch or iPhone. The screen is too small. (sure, you can make the type larger, but your thumbs will hurt from "flipping pages.") I don't know if you have a computer at work, but I want to remind you about biblia.com, which will have the same resources as the mobile device.
get the fm transmitter so that I can use it in my truck at work
As an iPod to play music? My old FM transmitter doesn't work with the iPod touch; I bought a new one, it doesn't either. (I am sure they must make one, but I haven't seen one in the store... I have not looked too hard. You would need to make sure that it charged the iPod as well as transmit). I love having my iPod classic in my car, though.

Hey Alabama 24,
There are all kinds of webpages showing many products that have the fm transmitter for the itouch. I make my living out of a truck and spend at least 10 or more hours per day inside one...mostly want to read Bible passages during break times, it wont be used for in depth study or anything like that,,,I can find hotspots so that I can check email and other things...my gps has an fm transmitter which is really cool and I have music in that also, which is why I really want to find a good fm transmitter for the itouch...it will be awhile before I can get the money set aside for the itouch and then the fm transmitter would be next on the list...Did you try the Griffin Itrip fm transmitter...saw a post that said it didn't work with 5th generation.....thanks for your input!

Dan
I use my iPod Touch basically as a PDA. I have certain Bibles and books available offline for when I am out and about. With Logos I use it mostly for reading scripture and have enlarged the text so I can read it easily. Turning pages isn't a problem. Qwerty keyboard is alright.
Overall, it works just fine! [:D]

Dan - Now that I understand your situation a little better, I would say that the iPod Touch would be ideal. It seems to me that it was the Griffin that I tried. My iPod Touch is an older one, but I also have an original iPad. I would want one that works with both. My iPad has 3G, which I don't turn on except for long car trips. It is nice when I do, because it can turn into a GPS like device. It's always good to know where the nearest rest stop is when you have a 6 & 3 year old riding in the car. [:)]
