Giving up [sniff] on Iconia install

Hi all,

Not enough room in solid state storage (8G), so sadly unable to install Logos 4 on Iconia tablet. Tried on SD, but way too slow (to the extent of not loading books once library was finished indexing). A shame the app cannot be installed in a different place to the library files!

Any creative ideas on what I might try (apart from free up more storage space or use Biblia?)

[I] using another computer with adequate storage, could create a new user (e.g. MyIconia), then install and index Logos 4. After indexing done, check Logos 4 folder size. If too big for your Iconia tablet, could:

Set Use Internet to No (turn off syncing)
Set Automatic Downloads to No
Hide resources
Restart Logos 4 (to delete hidden resources)
Rebuild Indexes
Check Logos 4 folder size, if still too big, then go back to step 3 (hide more resources)
Unhide all resources (queue resources for download)
Set Use Internet to Yes (turn on syncing for reading plans, etc)

Once Logos 4 folder can fit on your Iconia tablet, then use wiki Quick Installation onto multiple computers method 1 or method 2 to copy Logos 4 folder.

Note: do recommend leaving free space (perhaps a GB) on Iconia for Logos 4 temporary files (during search, etc).

For future resource updates and additions, could copy resource files (including compiled Personal Books) to Iconia (SD), then use scan command on Iconia to copy resources with incremental indexing. Other option is updating Logos 4 folder on your alternate computer, then copy Logos 4 folder (repeat method 1 or 2) to your Iconia to avoid temporary space needed during indexing.

Note: with resources queued to download, would avoid update now and update resources commands and leave Automatic Downloads set to No.

For program updates, could manually download Logos4setup.exe and install.

Thanks so much for that. I'm going to give it a go... but the initial app requests 10G free space (even if it doesn't use it), too big for the remaining storage memory. I'm prompted to install the app to another location, an external drive or SD card (the former provides no portability, the latter runs too slowly). Would the solution you've proposed here overcome this?

Custom install in method 1 and method 2 does not download resources (uncheck "Automatically Download Updates") so should be able to install Logos 4 application and copy Logos 4 folder from a different computer, which has your desired set of resources with indexing for Iconia tablet use.

If personally had an Iconia tablet, would be trying this proposed solution since my Logos 4 folder currently uses 19.3 GB for resources and indexing.

Just to resolve my confusion, but isn't this an Acer Iconia tablet with Android OS; for which a mobile L4 app exists?

Hi Dave,

No, it's running Windows 7 (hence the lack of spare storage space!) I am going to give installation another shot once I have the time as suggested by, err, 'Keep Smiling', otherwise may need to await Windows 8 with its smaller footprint.
