Making or Merging NIV AND ESV Passage Lists

I often use more then one bible version when studying and prefer one version over the other for certain verses but not all. So when making a passage list I need to be able to add scripture from several different bible versions. Can that be done? I tried to and couldn't get it to let me, so what I did was create a couple of different passage lists on the same topic--one for each bible version I'm using. For example, on my current ones I now have 8 verses listed on one passage list because they're best translated from the NIV and 14 verses on the other passage list which are best translated from the ESV. No verse is duplicated on either list. It would be much more helpful to have all of these on 1 passage list of course instead of two different ones, so I was wondering if I could merge the two lists without losing which bible version each verse is saved as? In other words, when I'm done merging the two lists, will I still have 14 ESV passages and 8 NIV or will all 22 of them be in the same version?

When you merge the two lists you will (clearly) have 22 verses.

You are able to have multiple versions displayed in the same passage list:

So you will be able to see the verse in the translation you prefer - but the other one will be there as well.

Hi Cindy,

The Passage List is a way of grouping verses. The actual translation can be changed or two translations can be shown side-by-side as in the example below. Does this help you accomplish your goal?

Graham and John showed you how to do this with Passage Lists. If you just want the text you could use a note file or a clippings file to hold the text of the verses. You wouldn't have all the features of the passage list but it might work for your uses.

Thank you all so much! Now, is there a way that I could have avoided making two lists to start with and caused the one passage list to accept scripture from either version? I tried to do that but it wouldn't let me.....so perhaps I was doing something wrong...

Nope, didn't work. I tried both union and intersection and all I got were NIV scriptures.... What am I doing wrong???

When you do the merge, the resultant Passage List will just show one version.

You can then add the other back in by entering it into the version box at the top of the list

it won't let me change or add another bible version to it.....I'm really confused now....

If you click in the Version box Logos4 should show you a drop down menu. If you want to add another version you will need a comma immediately following the last version in the box. (if you hit spacebar the list will disappear)

EDIT: after typing the Comma you will need to hit the spacebar once to get Logos4 to show the drop down list again.
