About Ancient Christian Commentary on Scripture(ACCS) CD-ROM Complete Set

Hi! there. I am interested in purchasing the ACCS Complete set(CD-Rom).
Something I want to know is about the platform. The official IVP website is like this. http://www.ivpress.com/cgi-ivpress/book.pl/code=2480. This tells me that it's based on the Libronix Digital Library System(I think this means Logos 3)
I found this web page when I was googling. http://community.logos.com/forums/p/17633/134136.aspx This tells me that it's based on the Logos 4.
What is correct? If ACCS is based on the Logos 4 and I want to use ACCS on my MacBook, Do I have to buy Logos4Mac and ACCS Windows version(Or Mac Version?)???
I don't know what's the correct information. Plz hel me.

The ACCS CD will come with Libronix for PC on it and an activation code. Once you get the CD you can call Logos Customer Service with the activation number and they will activate it on your L4 installation for you.

Thanks Becker.
You mean now that I have to buy the ACCS CD(Windows version) and Logos4Mac seperately?

Are you a current Logos 4 user? Your Logos licenses can be used on either a Windows or Mac. It's just that the Logos version on these CDs is from the Windows-only era and Logos 4 Mac cannot process the old-style activation codes.
If you are a new customer when you call Customer service they will set you up with a new account to which they will activate the ACCS. You'll download L4 Mac (EDIT: the engine is free, you only have to pay for books) and sign in with the email address and password you set up. L4 Mac will communicate with Logos' servers, see that you own the ACCS and then download these books and index them.
Does that make more sense?

<EDIT>Sorry, Kevin posted at the same time and beat me to it. </EDIT>
To clarify:
ACCS ships with Logos 3 (Libronix).
Logos 4 will load, run and work with Logos 3 books just fine.
You have some options if you only want ACCS, you could just buy that CD only and download the Logos4 Mac Program for free. The program is free, we pay for the resources
If you choose to do that, than certain features which are part of the new Logos 4 packages will not be available to you, without at least purchasing the crossgrade.
Please consider this article for help: Upgrade or Crossgrade or feel free to ask questions.

Thanks Becker and Black.
I have now two questions.
1) Where can I download the Logos4 Mac program for free? - I cannot find the download site.
2) If I want to use ACCS on my MacBook and iPhone&iPad, Is that enough to buy only the ACCS CD or do I have to buy the one of the many versions of Logos4 Mac?
I am a catholic and the most part of the Logos contens are for protestants. So it's enough for me to run ACCS on my MacBook and my iPhone and iPad.
What is the best buy for this?

1) You can download the Logos 4 Mac core engine here: http://downloads.logos.com/LBS4/LBS4MacInstaller/Logos4Mac.dmg
2) I think if you want to use ACCS on the iPhone, you'd have to buy a version of Logos 4 Mac, the least expensive of which is the Minimal Crossgrade: http://www.logos.com/minimalcrossgrade

Hope that helps!

Is ACCS compatible with Mac? The system requirements on their site only mention pc. I'm considering purchasing logos 4 and I'm interested in this resource but I use only Mac

There are two versions out there Libronix (logos) edition is compatible with both mac and pc, if you see a mac only box it is a different company… Both are good software, other may be a bit quicker on the start up but Logos has the widest range of secondary add on books. The other company has a demo software you can try downloading. I am not mentioning the competition on purpose because even though we are allowed to I would consider this verging on promoting a different product. Which ever version you by you will be happy and both have iOS apps, although as mentioned above you may need to by the minimal crossgrade.

Mac is fine; the old software on the disk is for a PC. Just call Customer Service to get it unlocked for your Mac.
But if you're buying, make sure 'Libronix' (Logos resource); not Accordance. And also not 'Volume 1' (which doesn't have all the volumes)

I am not sure if the mac logos 1.2.2 is on the ACC disk or not but I would;t bother d/l it do the Logos 4 since 1.2.2 does;t function to well unless you have safari 3 rather than the newer (or maybe it is lion).Even though it does't function to well any longer with Safari 5.0 and above. But as a worse case scenario it still functions as a reader, but the passage guide is broken by safari 5.

PS: I keep it on my machine for no reason in particular, other than i really did love the Libronix 1.2.2 infer ace. it just needed a little work like high lights and notes, but alas it is gone and now i must more it and talk about the good old days… lol….

Hey all,
I would also like to purchase this product, but it looks like it's not available on Logos' web page any longer, so I will have to purchase the disk and load it manually. The problem is I own a Mac Air, and don't have a disk drive. Does anyone know if I am able to load this disk onto a portable hard drive and upload it on my mac for Logos 4?
Thank you,
Liam

ACCS is available from Logos HERE. You can also search the internet and find it. If found elsewhere, simply call Logos customer service with the activation code and it will download automatically. No disc needed either way.

I purchased ACCS from a 3rd-party on CD-ROM and installed it on my Logos 4 Mac with no problems. It's a great commentary and you should have no problems running it on your mac. As for the iOS platforms, I can't really comment. It works great on my iPad, but I also have a base package installed.

PUTTING IT ON A drive should work, but calling Logos customer support should get it unlock and in your account, it will automatically download from the Logos servers then.

To add just a little to what other have said. Since you will ned to call Customer Service to get a third-party purchase activated, don't worry about a disk drive.

Is this not for sale anymore?

The ACCS seems to come and go from Logos's website. Apparently the publisher lets them sell it then changes there mind. It's come and gone at least a couple of times.

hmm, thats strange.. Anyone recall the price point?

Part of the issue might be IVP insistence of a physical CD for sales, where as Logos is basically disc less now. Search around you can find it for $216 with free shipping if you look hard enough (best price i saw just doing a quick web search and my favourite Distributor of Christian Books). Make sure you are purchasing the Libronix edition and not the Accordance mac edition, the Libronix (Logos) works on both mac and pc...

Yeah I'm aware of that price and that vendor
Just wanted to make sure that was the best price.
Thanks for the info.

Logos' price was always higher. Considerably higher.
