Bug Report: Crashing on startup

I don't mind the occasional crash particularly if I don't have time to chase it up and I just know the developers are working on it.  However, I am experiencing a lot of crashing, particularly on start up.  Below is the readout from the crash and I have attached my logs. I have an additional problem (don't know if it is related or not) that my collections have all disappeared. I need to find out why they disappeared and how to restore them.

I am running Lion 10.7.2. To be honest, I have seen more stable versions from the time that we were doing the Alpha testing. Sad

Donovan - It would be helpful if you could attach your log and not paste it into the forum. Click on the paperclip icon. If you are quick enough, you can edit your previous post.

  • Below is the readout from the crash and I have attached my logs.

Observation: the diagnostic report could have been included with the posted logs (move file into Logging folder before compressing).

WIki has Using the Forums => Editing or deleting posts (option: edit post to replace diagnostic report with an attached file)

Looking at Logos4.log noticed memory allocation (malloc) error; seems strange to be requesting an allocation of 4 GB for a 32 bit application.

I have an additional problem (don't know if it is related or not) that my collections have all disappeared. I need to find out why they disappeared and how to restore them.

Wonder if have another Logos 4 installation ?  Likewise wonder about Time Machine backup ?

Have noticed OS X Lion is associated with many Logos 4 Mac crashes in past few months.  In contrast, older Snow Leopard is quite stable for Logos 4 Mac.

I've attached the diagnostic log in a file. [:P]

In regard to my collections, no other Logos 4 installation running. Just my macbook. So there's a sync issue between one computer and Logo's cloud. Not good.

*bump* I guess the Logos techs don't come here any more?  Thought at least I would see a oh too bad for you or something... anyhow, Logos telephone support line, here I come!

The "Logos techs" do come here, and they work very hard, especially when betas are in progress (as they are now). The forums are not the best place to get individualized help from Logos... calling customer service is. The forums, however, are a great place to learn more about Logos and to get help from other users.

Other option is email to Logos Mac Support => http://www.logos.com/about/contact (can reference this thread).

This was a practical question, not a question about how hard they work. I helped on the testing of the Alphas, so from first hand experience they used to interact when these logs were posted.  If they are still coming and do look at these, no probs... hence my question.

I know you intend well, but this message sounds like I am new to Logos. I fully understand the purpose of these forums. I started participating when it was on the old NNTP Usenet style newsgroups. [:)]

Sorry Donovan - Your post sounded more critical to me that you intended.

Since Logos 4 Mac stable release, frequency of posting by Logos in Logos 4 Mac forum has reduced (typically more user interactions).  The Mac Beta forum tends to have more Logos interaction, often discussing Logos 4 Mac Beta issues.  Hence suggestion to email Logos Mac Support with reference to this thread so diagnostic logs are read by Logos.

By the way, am encouraged by Logos 4.5 Beta development; many Mac feature parity items are being improved.

No apology necessary. Written communication is not always fully understood or grasped... probably why I spend so much time praying and studying the Bible to get all that God has for me. (hence Logos!) [:)]

Lack of good internet and time in this season of life have caused me to withdraw from this effort. Good times though.  If it comes down to spending more time on here versus in Bible Study... the latter wonderfully wins out. Another season will come and I will be back at shooting at the betas to see how I can help advance the development of Logos... might be Logos 5 or 6 though! [;)]
