What's the easiest way to add a note to Scripture?

What's the easiest way to add a note to Scripture? As I read and highlight is there a very quick and easy way to add a note to what I'm reading? I'm thinking of a workflow like in the Kindle app. Just highlight text and click "add note" start typing and the note is added and associated to what you've highlighted. The ease of doing this in Kindle is largely why I do my regular devotional reading there, but then these notes aren't a part of my Logos database. As I try to grow in my use of Logos I'm looking for a quick and easy way to replicate this experience in L4.

Hopefully that will give you what you need - if not, please post back.

Please be aware that in 4.5 (currently in beta) there is much closer integration between notes and highlighting which results in highlights you make being placed in a notesfile as well.

Thanks Graham. That's a helpful resource and answered my question. Honestly though sometimes I wish the workflow was simpler in L4. I love the power of all the features... but at the end of the day I will probably use the quickest solution to a repetitive task. Maybe I can train myself to starting to take notes in L4 more regularly.

Basically just being able to add a note to a scripture without thinking about it. What if I just want to quickly add a note as I'm immersed in the Word... I don't care what file it goes in, I just want it there if I'm looking at that verse again. So I see how to add a note and I'm sure I'll quickly get used to it... it just seems like there should be an easier way that doesn't require so many clicks and take you away from being immersed in what you're reading.

Thanks, John, for the clarification.

What I do is ensure I have the appropriate file(s) open so they are easily available from the right-click menu when I want to create a note.

That allows me to keep related notes together.

If you don't want to do that and just write a note which you want to see when you go back to that same reference you could just keep everything on the one notes file. However, I wouldn't recommend this as it would get quite unwieldy.

I also like to make notes quickly and return to the text. If I am remembering correctly here are the steps I take:

Highlight the verse - right click - click "reference" - click "scripture notes" (I already have this note file open)

Now I can begin typing.

I keep my Bible on one side of the screen and the notes on the other so I can see both. This works quickly enough for me. The only time I get distracted from the text is when I get too wordy in my notes.

Can I add to this discussion with a similar question: I've had logos for 6 months and put bible notes in a bible notes file which I liked the idea of (it's easy to search for key terms e.g. "I'm sure I wrote a couple of notes on unemployment recently in my quiet times - I then just search my bible notes to find where.

However, having exported my Bible notes to word, I find I've got about 150 pages and logos is slowing down. I can see that this might not be the best system to store things, but at present I can neither move those notes easily into separate note files for each book or, even if that could be done, I don't think you can group individual notes into a collection to allow them to be searchable in the same way as they are.

Anyone with ideas for a way out to this quandery?

Option: create Personal Book(s) that can have one to many docx file(s) per book. When searching, Personal Book results are in "My Books" section vis "My Content" section for Notes. Also you can include personal books in collections; edition is User.
