Louw-Nida help for a newbie

Im pretty new to logos and my
software.. so keep that in mind. I am currently using the "Bible Study
KF". It doesn’t have or isn’t able to link to the Louw-Nida numbering
system. I watched a how to video on this function and think it would be good to
have.
My question is.. what exactly do I need?
Is purchasing “Greek-English Lexicon of the New Testament based on Semantic
Domains” what I need to allow this functionality? Or is there other things i need.. that im missing or not understanding.

From your ESV bible you can see various Interlinear items like Lemma and Louw (LN) associated with "made". If you right click "made" (or the Lemma γίνομαι) you can get a definition of the Greek word in your DBL Greek lexicon (below).
The first definition of the word corresponds to LN 13.80. If you have the LN Lexicon then you can hover over the number (or click it) to see its definition (below).
The LN Lexicon (together with DBL) can help you explore the different meanings of Greek words and perhaps understand why it was translated by a certain English word(s) --> "made" in this case, "created" in another bible.
In the same way, you need the TDNT resource (Theological Dictionary of the New Testament) to see the definition of TDNT 1.681. But this is a more advanced resource and you should consider upgrading to Scholar's Library if you want this together with more original language resources (including bibles and lexicons) as it is cheaper than buying them individually e.g. if the upgrade cost is $350 then $40 for LN is a good buy but TDNT at $200 is not a good buy!

Dave.. i really appreciate your help and confirmation, and taking the time with the pics.. makes it very clear. and yes i understand your upgrading vs buying the individual books. Like you mentioned.. my thought was to do the $40.. and that should give me what I'm looking for. TDNT is a little over my price range.

<edit>To further explain my comment above, if you head to www.logos.com/compare, you'll see that under features and databases is the entry "New Testament Semantic Domain Coding". That's what you want, if you want the LN numbers in your Bible text as shown in Dave's screenshot. If all you want to do is use th LN lexicon in the same way as any other lexicon, then you can just purchase the lexicon on it's own (which is obviously much cheaper). I was also wrong when I said it came with Original Languages, I'm afraid it's Scholars and above only.</edit>

I'm not sure if this is confined to Scholars - I bought the L-N lexicon as a separate resource, have the Mimimalcrossgrade, the L3 Original Languages Addin and SESB and I know that the ESV RI shows L-N numbers and the lexicon links work. Don't know whether the L-N numbers were present in the ESV since I have it or cxame with one of the other things I mentioned.
Maybe Rodney can order the Lexicon and, if it doesn't work to his satisfaction, give it back within 30 days?

in the screen print that Dave has in his post.. i have the exact same thing.. i can see what he is showing. and if i click on the strongs number.. it will open the strongs book with the numbers and reference. if i click the Louw-Nida.. it will open a window.. but since i don't have that reference or that information.. there is nothing for it to show. So i think.. if i get that lexicon book.. it will have a link to the book.. thus showing that information?.?
To your other point.. yes if it doesn't work that way.. and Im wrong.. Im sure they will refund my purchase price of the book.

Mark ... I know you've previously mentioned 'semantic domain coding' in scholars/above. Is this essentially just LN or something else?
I've looked at 'compare' periodically but never figured out what it was. I have OL and LN functionality.

If you can already see the LN numbers, then yes, all you need is the Louw-Nida resource, you don't need an upgrade. That's good news!
Dave and I would both like to understand what "New Testament Semantic Domain Coding" means that apparently only comes with Logos 4 Scholars and above. Can I ask whether you used to own Logos 3, or whether you bought Logos 4 from new?
