According to the following web page, video resources were slated to be functioning in the 2nd Quarter of this year:
http://www.logos.com/4/missingfeatures
Does anyone know if this has been completed yet?
As far as I know, they have not been implemented as yet.
Thanks for the reply.
Does anyone know if there is an announcement or forum thread somewhere that discusses when video resources will be finished?
The most likely fix will come in the next version (4.5). Check the release notes to see what has been changed/updated or added.
See this thread in the wiki as to what is included in the release notes. http://wiki.logos.com/Logos_4_Release_Notes
I think Logos should update the Missing features page. It's outdated.
Yes, that would be greatly appreciated.
Almost 3 months ago, I started this email thread and found that the Logos Missing Features page was out of date.
Well, that page is still out of date. I have called Logos a few times and asked if they would please update the page and they stated that they would, but nothing seems to have been done as of yet.
How can we get the Missing Features page updated?

Yes, but it also seems that a "squeaky wheel gets the oil" [:D]

At this point this is not in 4.5, Logos you have promised this and not revised your promise, it may not be at the top of everyone lists but it is a missing feature, if the date has to be pushed out then what must be, must be, just please let us know its not going to just yet.
Can someone from Logos please respond to this thread.
I have tried to be as patient as possible with this.
When I was originally thinking about upgrading to Logos 4, I had concern that it wasn't fully functional (since there were a lot of features missing). But Logos personnel promised me that everything would be working at some point soon. I took their word for it and purchased the product. Well, that was almost two years ago.
I (and many other customers) are still awaiting features that have been promised from the beginning.
All I am asking is to have the Missing Features page updated and to be assured that there is staff that is working on the issue.
This issue, along with a few others, are starting to get me extremely frustrated with Logos as a company...
You could send an email to bob@logos.com. The only court of appeal above that would be Mrs P or God.
I don't know what you are expecting in terms of "video resources" But I do know that Logos has been producing videos and posting many of them to a youtube channel (as mentioned in an earlier post). They are also producing DVDs like the http://www.logos.com/product/5876/learn-to-use-biblical-greek-and-hebrew-with-logos-bible-software and http://www.logos.com/product/8831/learn-to-do-word-studies-with-logos-bible-software
Are these not video resources for Logos 4 that are now available before 4th quarter 2011?
I don't mean to be snarky, I just don't understand all the angst.

AFAIK none of these are working in L4; thus the post.

None take David, because not everyone will be aware of these resources...they were once to be the next big thing in Logos and there is quite a few available but as Thomas explained just not yet in Logos 4 despite the promises.
see Mark Kielar ( http://www.logos.com/Products/search?Author=Kielar%2C%20Mark) on Logos Web site for more examples.
There were a few video resource produced as Logos, well, resources. For example: “The Greatest Book” Video Series.
Wow, videos that are tagged and come up in searches, I didn't know this even existed! (Seems I never really cared about all the details on the Missing Features page)
Do they really intergrate in L3?
I
Mick the result is not perfect. There is some issues with the indexing. Hopefully this will be all resolved when this make it into L4 assuming Logos is still intending to keep their promise.

In this screen cast the first example shows where everything is work correctly. I can search my collection, get a result and be taken to the point int the video for that section. Note I double clicked on the video to make it full screen. I didn't show but I could have clicked on any entry in table of contents and start watching the video from that point.
In the screen cast second example the search works fine, but when you click on the result you are not taken directly to the relevant section of the video. You have to manually find the entry in the table of the contents.
Note: searching limited to the table of contents text, transcripts of the videos are not included so you can't search for a specific quote in the video and be taken to that specific point in the video, you can only search for a 'bookmark' in the video and be taken to that point.
Hopefully this quick demo makes it a little bit clearer for those unfamiliar with these resources what they are about.
Yes, thanks a lot, Andrew!
I am frankly surprised that in this age of technology Logos has not been more aggressive on video support within Logos 4. I would bet they are trying to do something "better" than Logos 3, but wow would this sell resources if they could incorporate it in! Devices from phones to desktops support HD video quality, to integrate it into Biblical Places, People, Things; to have a section in Passage Guide; to even develop their own studio to produce videos that support lexicons, language study, tutorials for using the product (and then the videos could be updated with new versions!), have much more archeology/history/stories of saints, to have a much tighter integration like hopping directly to the exact point in a video......wow the potential just seems endless.
Maybe this is why it's taking so long, Logos has to build an infrastructure to support 5 years of ideas. I sure hope so, and it would be nice to hear something. People would feel a lot better if they knew the vision and direction on video, IMHO.
And that's the crux of it Dominick - silence is not golden to a customer's ears. The problem is there is a fix for the issues I demonstrated in the the second example of my screen cast because the Greatest Book Video Series also originally had that problem. Users simply need to be provided with corrected files that are correctly indexed. But because of the size of the Logos doesn't want to make them available as a download. They graciously sent me the updated files on a disc for the Greatest Book Series because I asked for them. I held off asking for them to provide corrected files for the other video resources I have licensed because they said these would be incorporated into L4 - but its now 2 plus years later (if you add on the time from when these we video resources were first sold. Given how long its been Logos should have sent corrected files in L3 format for everyone who purchased these products so they work correctly in L3 in line with what people were told they would do when they made the original purchase.
If it's taking time to sort out technical issues fine - just please update your promise page Logos to reflect this - what would concern me if this is being pushed aside in favour of new projects.
I agree there is great future potential for these, image running a biblical places and having a link to a short video of about the place you want to learn more about, or for an object in biblical things, or person in biblical people - if a video was available, I wouldn't expect them to specially make one for each possible search, but there is a lot of material that does exist and if it could be indexed and incorporated into L4 or its successor it would expand the possibilities of it both as a study and teaching tool.
... what would concern me if this is being pushed aside in favour of new projects.
And that is also my concern.
