Barnes & Noble Nook Color
Any plans on submitting the Android version of the application to the B&N Nook app store? Since the Nook is based on Froyo 2.2, I would think it would work but I am not familiar enough to know if there are any changes that need to be done for it to run on this platform. I would love to be able to use my Logos mobile app on my Nook Color

Logos hasn't answered this query ["Will you release your app via the B&N Store"], but if you want to run their app on the Color Nook you can. You can also run it on the new Nook Touch, but it will flash a lot and the library is hard to navigate.

So Ward the only way to get it to work on the Nook Color is to root the unit? I guess I'll pass on that if that is the only way as it's my wife's unit and I use it only on occasion. I don't want to goof her device up.

You can actually dual boot Android on a micro sd card. This would allow you to keep the Nook Color ROM untouched, as the Android ROM would be completely installed on the micro sd card. It is not too difficult if you follow a tutorial. I used this video tutorial, and found it to be user-friendly: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=P4nenR-mNo0. Android works well on the Color Nook, and the Logos app runs without any problems or speed issues.

Is it an involved process to submit it to the B&N store or can you just submit the current Android version once it is gold release mode?
We sure would like to see it for the Nook.
Yes, I have created a SD boot card to boot to Android on the Nook, but having it in the native device OS would be great.

I agree a native app on the Nook Color / Nook Tablet would be fantastic for sermon prep. I use the mobile version of the web app but the Android phone app has quite a bit more friendly usability.

I have a Nook Tablet and side loaded the Amazon App Store app. The Amazon Android Tablet version of Logos runs almost flawlessly on the nook. The only problem I've identified so far, is that the bottom of the Logos menu underlaps a tad bit (under the Nook's status bar). Cf. screenshot below. But it still seems totally functional (at least up to this point -- I've only been running it for about 3 days).

thanks for posting this. Here is another thread where you might consider posting in the future, as it refers specifically to the Tablet, and not the Color. Am curious if you have any more input on your reading experience. Also, I was curious if you have tried using the expansion slot to download Logos resources to, and what you are finding out about "only 1 GB" of space is designated for side loaded apps, and how that might affect Logos.

Is anyone having trouble working with the Webster Dictionary? I can page through the dictionary but can't search for a particular word. Is there some trick or a bug?

I wnt to buy an ereader for my Logos books and it would be great to use for sermon prep also. My wife has a Nook and that is my preferred device because of support. Any advice is appreciated.

You can make a Color Nook or a Nook Touch run Logos...this forum has articles that will show the steps--I'd just like it to be much easier (i.e., an app in the B&N store). There are two basic ways open: either swap out the OS on the "Nook" itself, or create a special memory card that you boot from. I use this second way because I can take out the card and boot up "normally" and enjoy the in-store and kiddo book/magazine features that R only in the B&N OS.
I think the Nook Tablet can also do it, but haven't researched that.

Can and if so how could my Logos books be put on a 32GB SD Card and then loaded on a Nook? Come on Logos HBO (Help a Brother Out) is the Kindle or Ipad the only way for Logos users?

How did you load it onto the touch? I cannot get a version of the app to load. I have the .apk file from the LOGOS website, side loaded it but the browser will not load the file, neither can I use the load page on LOGOS nor the Amazon app store - the Nook rejects the app.

Mark Kunkee got L4Android running on the Nook Touch; in this thread he includes a link to a video showing how it looks running L4Android.
Just above that part of the thread, I give a link to how to run a rooted Gingerbread OS from a MicroSDHC...I'll bet that same site has the right instructions for doing a similar thing with the touch. Warning: If you boot from a memory card, be aware that the B&N devices are *extremely* picky about small block read/write times...to prevent issues make sure you purchase the recommended card.

At this point I have stopped using my Logos software and started using olive tree. Their software is not as nice nor do I own as many books in their format (yet). They do , however offer their app in the nook market. I would like to come back to logos, I love, love, love my logos software. I regret that I will be forced to spend my money with a software developer that actually wants to make it easy for me to use the software I buy.
Come on Logos don't ignore the millions of nook owners out here.

"This looks like a job for ... Wish list" I would recommend that you put in an item and get votes. I would like to see the app on the nook as well. I suspect that LOGOs will delay going there until the app is more stable. If I were Bob Pritchart I would hold off for a while because people will be less disappointed if it isn't there than if it gets there and leaves. My (quick and dirty) look at the directions and information on the website leads me to think that there are probably a lot of "gotchas" in the conversion. On the other hand, I would be pretty disappointed in LOGOS if I found out that there was no-one looking into it in his/her spare time, just for info.
You can get it onto your Nook touch (the new touch not to be confused with the Nook color {the unit that USED to be called the touch} or the Nook Simple Touch). You just need to get a loader (like the GO.loader) and Amazon store side loaded. When I tried I found the loader and app to be rather clunky and temperamental on the Nook. When it just stopped working and the only way I could straight it out was to go back to square 1, I just stopped trying to get it to work. This link may help you:
When i tried it, Google locked me out of the Android store but the Amazon store worked. YMMV, of course
