Hello everyone,

When I try downloading books, although I get through to the library page with lots of books, when I click on the little right hand arrow to try and download them, there is no download button on the info. screen.  Anyone know how to solve this?

Ta Very Much,

Chris Maddocks

Hi Chris - and welcome to the forums

The only resource I see this behaviour is the ASV - which is always downloaded and can't be removed.

Which resources have you tried, what version of the app are you using, what phone / tablet are you running the app on?

    Hello Graham,

I downloaded the latest version of the app from Android Market.  When I click on the library button, it takes me to a lot of books to download, but the download button does not appear.  I can open them, but just not download to my phone. I am running the app on a HTC Desire android smartphone.

    Regards,

    Chris Maddocks

    Hi Chris

This is strange - I am also using an HTC Desire smartphone and the download button appears for me.

    Sorry I can't explain this.

You might try deleting and downloading the app again and seeing if that helps.

Hopefully others will be able to provide some more insight.

    Hello Graham,

I tried deleting and reinstalling: it still doesn't work!

    Hello Graham,

I tried deleting and reinstalling: it still doesn't work!

Some diagnostics should help the developers:

    • navigate
to the Android Market and download an app (it's free!) called CatLog.
This gets log files from the device.
    • Once CatLog is installed, try to reproduce the problem.
    • Open CatLog, press the Menu button on your device and then
select Send. Email that log as an attachment to yourself.
    • Then attach that file to this thread.

You might have to issue a "reminder" response if Logos does not respond.

  • Here it is. I am a seminary student, and it would be super helpful if this were figured out. Thanks!

I get a perpetual (4+ hours) of downloading without a completion after I had the popup ask if I wanted to delete the old version. A delete from the desktop through Amazon did not change the situation. I'm on Kindle Fire.

What situation? What are you deleting?

Next day - Logos 4 is still in the down loading from the cloud step of installation. And Amazon's 12 hour customer service has failed to reply.

    What are you deleting?

In the "Manage My Kindle" web page, I deleted the Logos app to see if that would get me out of the perpetual download. I can't get the Kindle itself to offer a stop or delete option.

Still not clear whether you are downloading the Logos for Android app or a resource (which is what this thread is all about).

Task Manager can be used to kill applications (long press of the Home key will bring up a shortcut).

Unfortunately not. A call to Amazon resorted to a factory reset ... without a cloud to restore my calendar or contacts[:'(]

I don't know about Kindle, but most Androids can be backed to a PC via USB interface and there is a Backup of app data (to cloud?) on phone.

I'm starting to look into the backup apps ... I wonder why?[:D] Luckily I had very little in the Kindle. Since the Kindle Fire comes with substantial cloud storage with an option for more, I would assume that there is an app that backups to the cloud. Unfortunately, in addition to getting the Kindle set up properly, I'm also trying to set up a new laptop for the family and getting a son's iTunes consolidated on his computer (not mine) and modifying a MySQL database for a grandson.  Aaargh ... starting to feel like I never retired.

So that's what I can look forward too huh? I just got my fire, the app works very well, though I thought I could highlight, but I guess not yet. I have the option to view book from the cloud or download, which makes them much faster to load pages.

Playing with it tonight, so far I think they can do much better, but then my Logos on the computre will never be replaced, but I really like taking my library with me to read at work during lunch or on the couch to just meditate on God's Word.

If you learn any tricks, let me know![:D]

I should warn you that I am jinxed. My time share had a processing error that had occurred only 3 times in 25 years. My car breaks down in a way that my mechanic hadn't seen in 50 years in the business - and Ford parts catalog didn't even list the part that needed replaced. My credit union processes my debits twice and my credits once ... you get the picture.  The nice thing about it is I'm so used to it, that I laugh which the poor person dealing with the problem doesn't expect ... so I get an opportunity to make their day[:D]

This is a known issue on Kindle Fire when downloading an app from the Appstore if that app had already been sideloaded. It's not limited to the Logos apps. I don't know of a fix, unfortunately.

Almost but not quite explains my situation:

App 1 had never been sideloaded; it was a simple keyboard app obtained from the Amazon freebie list.

App 2 (Logos) had been sideloaded at first but was deleted and downloaded from Amazon for both official versions. The third (current) version asked if I wanted to remove the preceding version. I said yes and it went awandering for 40 years in the desert. Okay, it just said downloading from the cloud ... it wasn't necessarily the desert cloud.

I'm so glad that I read these threads before selecting the APP from Amazon, when I tried 2 nights ago they had the latest in their store and it worked great!Over 3,000 books in the cloud, and a few I downloaded to the device. Sorry for your pain MJ, but if it makes you happy, it saved me some[:D]. It must store them in some kind que, because it only took the first time a couple of minutes to get the library ready, now it's all there each time I start the logos app.

I have Logos 0.9.3 installed on 2 devices; HTC EVO 4G and Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1

My ESV Bible has a Download Button on my Galaxy Tab, but the HTC EVO 4G does not have a download button.  I have 5 Gig left on my SD card, so I know it isn't space

So, why can I download my ESV Bible to my Galaxy Tab, but not my EVO 4G?

    Thanks,

    Richard

  • I tried it, and it didn't help me. I still don't have the option to download any of the books in my library, except for the ASV Bible.

Payton - are you sure you have logged into your Logos account?

    Hi,

I was having a similar problem on my Thrive, I followed the advice here:

    See http://community.logos.com/forums/t/38410.aspx

That seemed to clear up most of my issues. I have one remaining problem. I have one book (Andrews Study Bible - notes only) that I can open online with no problem, however, it will not download. When I press the download button on the description page for the book, the download begins and the button turns gray and the progress bar across the top begins to move, after a minute or two everything stops, the button turns back to green and I get an Android notification "Logos Download failed: Andrews Study Bible Notes"

I'm using v.0.9.3 of the Logos app on a Toshiba Thrive running Android 3.2.1
