what screen layout will the final product have? I hope it is EXACTLY like the Windows Logos 4 version

The Alpha has alot of separate windows at present which is pretty Mac I love the Home page setup and the combined panels in the Windows version.

My request is please make the 2 version (Windows and OS X) look pretty well identical.

Our goal is feature parity, plus.

The plus is something extra and cool that only works on the Mac. Because Mac users expect and deserve something extra cool. So they'll be very alike, except that all the news items on the Home Page on the Mac will be in a 3D carousel with coverflow-like image flipping on a black background with particle effects shimmering around them.

Oh, wait... maybe that's the Home Page for the PSP edition... well, somehow, the Mac version will be cooler.

My comment at top (yes I started this thread) was serious but you all seem to need to make a joke out of a serious request. Doesnt seem to matter if people are Christians or not when it comes to people using difference OS's they just can't resist stirring and making pokes at each other.Oh well hope your all having fun. My PC (Mac) runs L4 on Windows 7 quite well. The Alpha on OS X is not the best yet but I sure hope all the nice stuff in the Windows version comes across well. And that coverflow idea someone had ... hmm maybe could work actually there is an iPhone Bible app that has coverflow to flick through all the different books of the library with nice graphics and yes I am sure they could put that in the Windows version or the PSP Go version or the Ubuntu version or the Windows 2 version

But let me address your comment directly. What windows layout in the Mac Alpha functions differently than in the current Windows version? Can you give a specific example or a screen shot?

FYI, the "someone" who mentioned coverflow is Bob Pritchett. He is the President of Logos. I thought he gave a rather serious answer about feature parity so I am not sure why you were offended that the President of Logos took time to assure you that the Windows features would be in the Mac version.

Joe i had my toungue firmly pushed into my cheek with my reply.. I have a dry sense of humor. so was having a stir and some fun myself.

As for Bob's comment I was actually responding to someone else mentioning a PSP version of it.

The Mac Alpha home page is completely blank at present. not real interface at all. So image your Windows L4 home page with nothing but the 3 top left icons and Home Page and thats about it. Currently I can open other panes and get different Bibles but they dont sync at all when you scroll through verses and there is also so Bible reading plan to be found anywhere yet. I hope they lay things out as the Windows Home Page isand also the Bible reading plan page. The Alpha 2 is way way behind so I was hoping to get in early and encourage a similar layout cause to me it works great. I dont want to keep using the WIndows version as I find Windows a little too in stable . Windows 7 blue screened on me and alls it was doing was a windows update. not nice.

Ah, I see what you were suggesting. I was reading it differently, but what you are saying makes sense.

Good, keep at it and I hope us users can help ensure a quality end product. I know user input made a huge difference during the Beta process for the windows, so the more eyes looking, the better off we will be.

Kidding aside, we actually do hope to have a couple things that are platform unique. Some may be tech driven: the Windows version Home Page uses Microsoft's WPF FlowDocument, for which there is no Mac equivalent. We'll either have to write something new to use on both platforms, or go a slightly different way.

And some may be just "platform respecting": Mac users do expect some cool stuff that might not even look right on Windows. Coverflow for the Library is something we think could be cool....

Initially I was going to say why cover flow would not be worth much more than eye candy but the more I think about it the more I like it. One use could be random library browsing - zip through my collection in cover flow mode, exploring books that look interesting. Cover flow mode + some sort of adjacent info window = a rather cool idea.

What I'd also love to see in the Mac version is tear-away tabs. Drag one of the resource tabs outside the application window and it automatically floats that resource without having to right-click the tab and tell it open in floating window. This would match the way Safari works. I don't think I ever tried to tear-away a tab in the PC version but I caught myself trying it on the Mac version just out of habit since I'm used to doing that with Safari tabs.

Ditto on the cover flow on the finished Mac version -- that would be great as it would allow us to use a known method of viewing. But then again I am partial to using any quick advantage that i can to get to where i need to be. I can read the details once I get to the info pages. Keep up the good work guys. This is sort of like building a house. The new occupants want to see the finished bedroom when the contractor is still working on the heating and cooling plan. :-)
