Nelson Bible Reference Bundle: advice

I am considering purchasing the Nelson Reference Bundle (currently on offer) and would be grateful for the opinion of others with regards to the merits of this collection.

I own paper copies of what I understand to be the stronger entries in the WBC series and am, therefore, pretty familiar with the format and level of this particular commentary set. I do intend to purchase this set in Logos at some point. I understand, from comments on other threads, that this offer price (for the bundle) is pretty good.

I would be grateful, however, for any insights others are able to offer with regards to the additional content in this package. Other than WBC, I do not appear to have any other Nelson titles on my bookshelf. Reading the descriptions both here and on Amazon, it seems that most of the other resources are non-technical and aimed at a lay readership. I was wondering if this presumption is correct and would be grateful for the views of others on the quality and helpfulness of this additional content.

In summary, I am wondering whether I am better waiting for an offer on the WBC as a standalone (I recall seeing it for less) or taking up this offer with the benefit of credit and additional resources.

You have any idea how many bundles of Nelson Logos could have sold if they had cut the price to 399 like the third party is doing right now? What's wrong with you Logos! I could've given you my money instead of a third party. I don't think you sale can compete with the third party even with the credit you're offering. Oh well, not all business can get it right all the time.

Also noticed this bundle has many counseling resources along with MacArthur Pastor’s Library on Pastoral Ministry and Preaching.

Observation: Logos Christmas Credit offers much to consider.

Ok, he would have to spend 1,900.05 to get a credit of 239.98 how can this be better than a third party offer? He can just spend 399 and not have to worry about spending 599 to get 149.99. It's better for him to pay 399 and use the other 200 on his own to purchase other things which is higher than the 149.99 that he supposedly gets for spending 599.99...LOL........better deal? I'd think twice.

That may well be so; also note the Strong's titles. The "New" titles are c. 1995-2001 but are the pick of the bunch. The apologetics titles are useful as well e.g. "Answers to tough questions", "I never knew that was in the bible", but you are going to buy this bundle on the strength of the value of WBC. On my 10:1 scale (retail price vs offer) this just squeaks in, but you can do better for WBC.

None of the non-WBC resources are that good in my opinion. A Treasury of Great Preaching is OK if you like printed sermons. The Pulpit Commentary is quite missable. One or two of the other resources are worthwhile - highlights would be Introduction to Biblical Counseling, Reymond's Systematic Theology, New Treasury of Scripture Knowledge (if you don't already have it). The Josh McDowell and J Vernon McGee stuff is valuable if you like those authors (some do, some don't).

If your other purchases mean you'll be up at the 40-50% credit percentage, and you have other resources you want to buy in January, it's probably worth it (40% credit brings the price down to $420, and those extra resources are certainly worth $20). If not, I'd probably pick up WBC for $399 somewhere else.
