Logos Returns Policy

I am relatively new to Logos 4 and am keen to take advantage of their Christmas Credit offer. I am willing to spend a decent amount on resources that are useful to me, but also have to decide whether they will be helpful or not. Somewhere I have read comment of a '30 day returns policy' which would allow me to 'trial' products, which I am interested in but not certain of their usefulness to me.

I am unable to find a 'returns policy' link as is common with most internet retailers I use, could someone give me a definitive answer so I can purchase prior to the end of the sales?

Hi Chris, try this clear statement from the Logos blog:

"If you are not satisfied with Logos 4, we will give you your money back.
Our grace period is 30 days. So make the purchase today, "break the
seal," and find out for yourself if what we have been saying about Logos
4 is true. If you are not convinced Logos is for you, let us know
within 30 days of your purchase, and our staff will try to resolve your
concerns, or we will give you a refund." You can find the whole statement by clicking HERE. I am aware this blog is almost one year old. But Logos has not changed their return policy.

I will encourage you to thoughtfully consider the effects a return for refund will have on your Logos Credit. Logos has stated your Logos Credit will be re-adjusted after being awarded if any qualifying purchases are subsequently returned. So if you go for Portfolio and return it for Scholar's Gold the corresponding Logos Credit will be adjusted accordingly. My suggestion for avoiding any unpleasant surprises is to hold back on applying Logos Credit until you know for sure you will be keeping the products that generated the Logos Credit.

One last point; I would rather find myself in the position of owning a bigger Logos library (and a bigger Logos Credit balance) in the middle of January wondering if I should pare back my purchase, than to find myself owning a smaller Logos library (with a smaller Logos Credit balance) and regretfully wish I had gone for the bigger purchase and the sweeter kickback at a higher return. Did that make any kind of sense?

Original Languages works great for some. Platinum is rumored to give the biggest bang for the buck. I think you need at least Scholars to get all the study tools available. In the end, only you can decide what is best for you.

Thank you both for your replies. To clarify my position. I bought Scholar's Silver in Feb 2011 and have NO COMPLAINTS on that front.

I upgraded to Platinum earlier in December because of the upgrade offer (I am a student, so was able to apply the cost of SILVER to the UPGRADE and earn Credit.

My question relates to resources being ADDED TO a BASE package.

I have looked at purchasing a number of Christmas offers (NIVAC NT, Nelson bundle) as well as further purchases eg IVP Collection, Early Church History Collection. I don't want to abuse their grace, but would like to look at AYB, ISBE and some of the Journals etc.

Supertramp, my understanding from your post (put simply and crudely) is - fill up with as much as you can and return within 30 days what you don't like. By doing this I can compare dictionaries, any other commentary sets etc and then 'discard' those I like less.

Does that seem a right and reasonable course of action?

If you are going to try out the IVP NT Dictionaries, I would check out the OT ones as well.

Well, it is not exactly to be taken that way. If you read the whole blog post I linked to (from last year) when I referenced the return guarantee, Logos said they want to help customers avoid "buyer's remorse." To throw everything in the shopping basket with the intention of returning a major portion of it is the method many Christmas shoppers use at Walmart. I would hope Logos customers are a little more serious about the items they place in their carts. I opened my Logos.com account in April of 2008. Since then, I have purchased only two items I can remember returning; The John Piper Collection (because all but one volume of it was included in the 2010 Christmas Master Collection) and a single volume I inadvertently bought twice.

I meant it as literally as I wrote it. I would rather put the gracious folk in CS and bookkeeping to a little trouble processing a refund than to regret taking Logos up on the very generous offer they have crafted with the Logos Credit, 12 Days of Logos, upgrade base packages and "We Gotta Talk.".

I would suggest any adjustments requested be done in one service request rather than 6. I can assure you, the Sales arm of Logos wants you to buy. And Dan Pritchett wisely said, "If the sale never ended, it would not be much of a sale now, would it?"

These special deals will end. Some may return later, some definitely won't.

I have literally asked on several occasions if Logos meant to extend such a good deal to me during different sales offers through the years. They always come back and say "Yes." So I am convinced this is a right and reasonable course of action, as i have presented it.

I have just spent 10 minutes speaking with Santiago (Direct Sales Manager @ Logos).

His opening statement was "We are a Christian company and want our customers to be happy, so we will work with you to meet your needs." He went on to say the returns policy is 30 days on all downloads, but that was only a guideline, as they want us to be satisfied with our purchases.

I explained my situation, being completely open with him. ie I was undecided on which resources would be most useful for me, but did not wish to abuse their grace. He confirmed I can order whatever I choose and return within 30 days those I decide not to keep. I will of course lose the Christmas Credit on returned purchases.

This clarifies the position and I will now make an increased purchase because of this response. I have read various negative posts recently about Logos, but I can only speak highly of them, They are a credit to the Christian community.

The Christmas 2011 collections have limited time availability for purchase. Logos has offered these collections for a few weeks in December last year and this year. At this point, not know if repeat planned for next year. Likewise not know if Christmas Credit will be repeated next year.

[I] Download spreadsheet, use a column to enter 1 if resource in your Library (Masters collection does include a number of resources that are included with base packages), then total column to see how many resources Master 2011 collection would be added to Scholar's Platinum (suspect over 1,500, which is less than $ 1.50 per volume).

For example, 2011 Master collection adds some Pillar commentary volumes to Scholar's Platinum.

Caveat: since 2011 Master collection includes many Portfolio items, a Portfolio upgrade becomes less attractive.

Logos can consolidate orders into one payment plan.

You can download what you have (see http://wiki.logos.com/Bibliography ) and then mark these off on a package comparison - Logos offers them on the screen and some as PDF, I personally would use Excel, see the sheet in this thread: http://community.logos.com/forums/t/42304.aspx

Or have Logos.com collection web page with list of resources visually show which ones would be added (orange dots), perhaps grey out ones already licensed.
