Nuance Dragon Software 11.5 Premium with Logos and MS Word

Has anybody tried to use Nuance's Dragon(a voice activated software for Windows programs) with Logos 4? When I try to use it, both the Dragon software and my MS Word freezes. I have tried to use it with MS 2007and 2010. No go.
This is very frustrating when I am trying to do Bible study, esp when I want to copy Bible verses into a Word document. Can anyone suggest an alternative way to get Bible verses into my Word document without having to open my Logos 4? I've looked at Bible Gateway and Blue Letter Bible, but can't seem to copy Bible verses into a document.
Thanks for your help!

Wonder if have tried Logos 4 Copy Bible Verses tool ? wiki has => http://wiki.logos.com/Copy_Bible_Verses
Also, wonder if have tried smart tags with Logos 4; wiki has => http://wiki.logos.com/Smart_Tags

I do know how to copy Bible verses from my opened Logos to my Word program. My problem is that when I have Logos 4 open, both Dragon and MS Word freeze and shut down. So I need to be able to copy them without having Logos open.
I have not used smart tags before. But I do have the 64 bit Office program, and the Wiki info says Logos 4 does not support the 64 bit program.
Any other suggestions? Thanks for your help!

Vivian ... the easy solution is to use the web-based Biblia.com, with you logging in and thus obtaining whatever access you need from your Bibles. Personally I prefer Library.Logos.com which is the older more simple version.
Access to Logos4 without it running is not an option. Personally, I also run Libronix3 which gives me access to all my Logos books as well. So, there's several options.

Denise - I too still have Logos 3 as well as Logos 4, and I love it. It is far simpler in some ways than Logos 4. But Dragon and MS Word freeze up with that version too. I am going to check out the 2 apps that you hvae suggested. Can I send Bible verses to myself for my MS Word documents? I suppose that would have to be via an email, and then opened up and copied from there to my document. Gosh, that sounds like a lot of steps just to copy Bible verses ! There's got to be a better way.
I have tried going through all my written notes before I put them on my computer and creating a separate document that contains only the scripture references that I think I will need in my lesson. That works - except for when a new reference comes to mind as I am creating my document. Then I'm stuck with just writing the address and waiting until I close Dragon and then going to Logos to get the newer verses to add to my document. There's gotta be a better solution!.

Denise - I have the iPhone 4s (my first smartphone, and new to me). I tried searching for both apps (Library.Logos.com and Biblia.com) and it came back with no matches.

Hi Vivian, these are not apps. They are web sites that you can log into and access your library.

Oh! Thank you! I really do need to get up to speed with all this technology! I appreciate your help.

Vivian ... if you need help on using the web Logos access to your Bibles or how to copy, please let us know.
Also, I checked on Nuance Dragon issues with Word. I copied the pages below, but apparently Word has its own speech recognition which needs to be turned off, etc. Sounds complicated! I'm not sure why it wouldn't work with Libronix but I suspect the Logos4 text reader might be the problem.

Logos 4 is a 32 bit application. Curious about 64 bit Office choice since Microsoft recommends 32 bit Office for most people => http://office.microsoft.com/en-us/word-help/choose-the-32-bit-or-64-bit-version-of-microsoft-office-HA010369476.aspx

Before I got into Logos 4, I used esvbible.org and biblestudytools.com quite a bit to copy Bible verses for my writing.
I have found that the biggest problem with copying verses is that one should use Logos' built in methods for copying rather than the conventional platform methods such as Ctrl + C or Command + C

Is this a completely different program from Dragon Naturally Speaking or is it a development from it? I tried that once, but it seemed that there was too much work involved in traing the software to accept voice input.
BTW: I also think the computer I had at the time was a bit underpowered for the program.

It is the same one. In the beginning of creating a user profile it does take some time. Then it gets better and you can really fly through your document with it. Also, if I know ahead of time what I want to say and so say it fairly quickly and smoothly, it doesn't have any trouble at all transcribing my words. But if I am hemming and hawing, hesitating between words, that is when it does not understand me very well. I try to have a lot of my thoughts pretty much written out on paper ahead of time (and that's actually good for me, gives me more time to reflect on what I am thinking and so make changes if I need to). I love it b/c it saves me a lot of time!
When I started having this problem with both Dragon and MS Word freezing, I thought my laptop was underpowered too. I had been wanting to buy a new desktop, so I did, and it's got a lot of power - but I had the same problem whenever Logos was open at the same time as Dragon and Word. That's when Dragon Tech Support told me that Dragon is probably incompatible with Logos. Hence, here I am at the forums, trying to find a possible solution!

Wow, Denise! I am so blessed that you took the time to do that research for me! Thank you so much. I have the files to my computer and will keep them handy in case there is a next time that Dragon freezes, even when Logos is closed.
This forum is great - such lot of caring people! Reminds me of Somebody Else I know...
Thank you - and I will be back in touch if I can't get the "copy Bible verses" going. I'm going to check on the web site now.

Michael - I tried Bible Study Tools before I came to the forum - but I couldn't find anything n the site that told me how to copy Bible verses. Could you tell me how you did it?

Denise - I went to library.logos.com on my iPhone and the font was so small I could not read it. I have done a search to learn how to increase the font on my iPhone for websites, but all the search results were either too small for me to read them (!) or they spoke of using other apps to change the fonts. Can you direct me to a video or a help that would actually help me?
Sorry if this is not a forum question! I can wait till Verizon is open on Tuesday if necessary...

"Logos 4 is a 32 bit application. Curious about 64 bit Office choice since Microsoft recommends 32 bit Office for most people."
Keep Smiling - OK - I did some research. I ASSUMED that I must have the 64 bit Office beause the options you sent me for smart tags were not showing up in the proper dialogue box on my computer. I have discovered that I do have the 32 bit - and now I know the reason that the Logos smart tags did not work - it was b/c I had Logos closed at the time.
That's what I was looking for on the forum - a way to copy Bible verses apart from Logos b/c opening Logos at the same time as Dragon SEEMS to be the reason why Dragon and MS Word is freezing. After getting your reply, I went back and, with Dragon closed, tried to copy a BIble verse from the smart tags, and voila! It worked! That was fun - learning a new thing. But now I still need to be able to copy Bible verses from somewhere when Dragon is open. Thanks for your help.

Noticed some programs have been tested for use with Dragon => http://nuance.custhelp.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/6019/kw/incompatible%20application
Wonder if disabling Dragon Active Accessibility Services for Logos 4 affects freezing ?

I tried that link several times and got a blank page every time. I finally just did a search on Nuance for Dragon Accessibiblity Services and a file did come up - but when I went to open it (twice) Internet Explorer closed down and said "A malfunctioning or malicious add-on has caused Internet Explorer to close down."
So I am wondering if my antivirus will not let me open it?

It worked for me and I downloaded the PDF. I tried putting in the files section, but I get an error each time—perhaps it's too large. Here is the pertinent section.

Turning off Dragon's use of Microsoft Active Accessibility Service
Dragon NaturallySpeaking
and Dragon Medical
use Microsoft Active Accessibility Service to let you control certain
menus and dialog boxes by voice. Without Microsoft Active Accessibility Service, you would be unable to
use
Dragon
to select menu commands and dialog box controls with your voice.
If you don't need to control the menus and dialog boxes by voice, you can speed up
Dragon
performance by turning
off Microsoft Active Accessibility Services.
To turn off Active Accessibility Services in Dragon for all applications
1. Open the
Options dialog box by selecting Tools > Options on the DragonBar
.
2. Click the
Miscellaneous
tab.
3. Clear the
Voice enable menus and dialog controls
box if it is selected.
4. Click
OK. You will need to exit and re-start Dragon
for this change to take effect.
To turn off Active Accessibility in Dragon for specific applications
1. Exit
Dragon
.
2. Open
nssystem.ini in a text editor. By default, nssystem.ini
is located in
C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\Nuance\NaturallySpeaking11
3. Under
[MSAA Modules Disabled]
, add a line similar to the following for each application where you want to
disable the use of Active Accessibility Services:
<
executable_name
>=1
4. Save and close
nssystem.ini
.
5. Re-start
Dragon
.
For example, to disable
Dragon
use of Active Accessibility Services in Microsoft Word and Microsoft Excel, you
would add the following lines to
nssystem.ini
:
[MSAA Modules Disabled]
winword.exe=1
excel.exe=1
Note:
If you do not know the name of an application's executable file, you can start the application from the
Windows
Start
menu and then use the Windows Task Manager to view the list of current Windows applications.
The executable names are listed under Image Name on the Processes tab. You can also right-click the application's
icon and select the shortcut tab—the
Target
field will provide the name of the executable.

Thank you! I notice that it is for Vista. I have Windows 7 - Would it work the same for Windows 7, or did they have different instructions for Windows 7?
I have to admit that I am a little nervous about messing with this stuff. What if I crash the program?? I guess I could always reinstall it.

Are you sure you didn't say that you had Vista? After all, I never make mistakes [;)] [:D] (Just ask me). I didn't see anything for Windows 7.
