Inductive Bible Markings available for download?
Hi,
I just got Logos for Mac this Christmas, so I'm definitely a newbie. I like the Inductive/Precept markings but I find the ones that come with the program lacking. Are there markings available for download? I've searched and can't find anything but I have noticed that some people are using better markings than those provided. Any help? Thanks!

Officially, the answer to the question is "no"
Unofficially it is possible to download markups from here http://www.stilltruth.com/blog/normanjd/import-utility-logos-4-palettes
HOWEVER
These are not officially supported by Logos and you need to "tinker under the hood" to install them . If you don't know what you're doing you could very easily mess up your installation. Proceed with caution at your own risk!
Incidentally, I have no idea if you can do this on a Mac - I have a Proper Computer [:D]

Thanks for the referral to the other guys site. I'm not sure I want to try that yet since I'm also fairly new at the Mac as well, having used a "proper computer" for many years! Lol!

David, If you were using a real Proper Computer rather than a Pathetic Copy, you would know that these files will not work on a Mac [8-|]
Wayne, welcome to the Logos Forums and to the Mac OS. Downloaded the zip file to check, and two of the files within are Windows apps.
There is a way to load them into L4 Mac, but I would not advise it. That entire file is quite old, having been developed for L4 4.0b. They may not work with 4.3 (soon to be 4.5). Perhaps the author will update the file or test it with a later version of L4.
In case you are interested. To load any L4 Win file into L4 Mac, you need a Windows installation which will then synch with your Mac installation—in almost all cases. A few features are not yet available in L4 Mac.

A quick look shows that the database tables have changed and this custom script wouldn't work at all on windows or mac (converting the script to mac would be inconsequential).
What would be great is if someone could share the images, or a version of their visualmarkup.db with the images so I/we could extract them and share them to create your own custom palettes and markups (the images are the biggest pain in the process).
Also, be warned that over-highlighting causes some big performance issues that are well understood and being dealt with in the long term on both Windows and Mac platforms.

That's what I've done. I have to admit though that I'm still a pencil/ paper gal for when I do Precept studies. I've found it's just much quicker to use my paper observation worksheets than to do the marking in Logos, and I'm hooked on writing in the margins. I haven't quite gotten the hang of using Logos notes to substitute for this.
I would love for there to be a unified set of suggested Precept markings, but unfortunately it's all across the board. Kay's marking's are different from David's, and they change from study to study (older studies tend to have different marking suggestions than newer studies). Even a fuller set that I received when I became a Precept leader has different suggestions than what are in the studies. I suppose this is because these are simply suggestions, with the recommendation that students create markings that are meaningful to them.
What's nice about doing Precept in Logos is that you now have a single place to file your markings, so you can use the same ones throughout your Bible without having to keep track of bookmarks, etc. And you can set keyboard shortcuts for ones you will use often (such as heart, covenant, repent, love, Father, Son, Spirit, author, recipient, etc.). But as previous posts have mentioned, once you get into heavily marking your text, Logos response gets really slow. I noticed this while prepping for a 40 minute study - it was just two chapters in Ephesians, and markings were very light compared to a PUP study.

Yep, I'm surprised this isn't supported better. I've also noticed the comments about slower performance with more highlighting and marking. I'm a bit disappointed since I was looking forward to the unified use of symbols throughout the Bible, but such is life! It's still a great program and I'll figure out how to get what I want out of it. I was just hoping it would be a download away![H]

Yeah - this has been a common request for a while. There is a uservoice suggestion made for it - you may want to check it out and add your vote [:)]
I have to say - when I first found the set of Precept symbols that were already in Logos I was pretty tickled. I didn't know Logos had them, so I thought it was really neat to see some familiar markings. It really would be great to have even more without having to take the time to individually create them.
