Mac Word 2011 / PBB

I'm trying to format some course notes in a docx file on Word for Mac 2011 to create a PB.

The course note paragraphs have various numbers and sub-numbers, and when I try to tab successive paragraphs into alignment, some paragraphs will not align properly. When I tab to indent one paragraph, it might tab a slightly larger gap than the tab above or below it. ( - It's like the tab intervals for one particular line are different from the lines above or below it.)

Does anyone know of a way to reset the tab settings in Word for the whole document so that when I start formatting the document, the tab settings/spacings will be consistent?

Using MS Office 2008 here, but 2011 will be the same or similar.

Under the Format menu, select Tabs… and set the Default to your desired spacing. Then you will need to check that there are no set tabs in the paragraph as these will override the default setting
