USABILITY BUG / SUGGESTION: well a suggestion I wanted to put in the wrong forum

Given the design reasons that highlighting and notes have been unified and given the complaints regarding the "meaningless" notes, I would suggest some option to suppress the display of notes with no text .. an on/off toggle. This is not a fully considered suggestion but rather a direction to look for a satisfactory solution that meets system and user requirements.

I just made a notes file called "highlighting" and assigned most of my palletets to post the highlight note there. This keeps all of the empty notes in one place and at least mine defaults to no note icon, but you could also turn off this note file in the visual filter/notes three ring section.

The default is a "palette-specific Note file" so this is quite onerous to change (or remember to change), and then you wonder why you have extra Note files! This is just one of my usability concerns.

That would be rather pointless.. as it would kill everything from that file.. including the highlighting you wanted to show
