Hello fellow users,

I always enjoy learning new things about Logos, I love to study Gods infallible Word with the tools that Logos provides, I am VERY HAPPY and CONTENT with all the resources that our Gracious God has enabled me to purchase. I have only a modest library compared to some who contribute to these forums but I have enough to help me to help others and am very thankful.

So, the reason for this email is in response to Logos's latest blog post by MP (Morris Proctor). These posts by MP are always very helpful but when I see the hidden ability of Logos 4 brought to light I begin to get a sinking feeling that their are many many things that I do not know about the software! things that are not so obvious, yet are very powerful must have features if Logos is to be used to its full potential.

I am aware of the Wiki, user created helps and the Logos help file and some other free contrbutions by Logos and others, they are very very helpful as far as they go.

But I am aware also of the other paid versions of helps like MP's seminars and others. Some are not very espensive some are more expensive. My point is that I am unable to spend the money neccesary to have these further helps, yet these other helps seem to contain the elusive hidden knowledge that we ALL should be made aware of. Logos promotes MP seminars with language like "unlock the power of logos bible software as never before" I wonder why we have to pay more to unlock the instructions neccesary to use Logos 4 according to its true ability? if I buy a car or some other item I always receive ALL the instructions neccessary to use it to its full ability, I have never had to pay more money just to know how what I just bought works!

Now I am also aware that many of you have had the benefit of this further instruction and have gladly paid for the privilege and have no second thoughts about it, I am truly happy for you.

I was just wondering if someday we ALL might receive ALL of the instructions neccesary to be able to use Logos to its great potential without having to pay for it. Is that to much to ask? maybe their are other ways of looking at this issue, maybe their is other possible solutions already in place that I am not aware of, if so please forgive me if that is the case and give me the light to!

If we had all the secret knowledge up front, we'd never get any pleasant surprises when we learned something additional that Logos can do that we hadn't discovered yet. [;)]

Seriously, there's a ton to learn about Logos, and it's good to go at your own pace, use the free videos by Mark Barnes (http://www.logos4training.com), and the wiki, and ask questions on the forums when you get stumped. You'll probably learn it better that way anyway than if you had a huge manual with all the ins and outs documented. I can think of all the huge software manuals I've bought (or received free with the software, in some rare instances) in the past, and they all ended up sitting on the shelf never getting opened.

Phrases like "unlock the power of logos bible software as never before" are just marketing speak. There's nothing intentionally hidden, nothing that MVPs and other power users wouldn't eagerly share with you on the forums, or that you can't learn eventually by reading all of MP's blog posts. If something's not documented in the help file or on the wiki, that's merely an oversight.

There are always people who prefer a hands-on learning experience like the MP seminars, and those cost money to put on, so of course they have to charge a lot for them. Ever walk through the computer software section of a big box bookstore like Barnes & Noble or Borders? there's a huge aftermarket for this sort of stuff, because people are always wanting more ways to learn than what's already free online. But the mere existence of paid ways to learn about software doesn't mean those who can't afford them are at a disadvantage. Just ask away, and watch your Logos knowledge bloom!
