Learn to Use Biblical Greek and Hebrew with Logos Bible Software

Could anybody tell me what is really included in that software? Any resources in it? Are they only videos discussing how to make a word search? I mean, that was the impression I had watching the youtube videos on the product page. It's like :"don't worry about memorizing", but then ? So, my question is : is this program without resources ? Is it a real course like University lessons from the beginning? What they did on the two videos I can do it myself.

I'd be glad to get some enlightenment on this software. Thanks.

I use logos 4 to learn my Hebrew- this morning I entered Proverbs 16 16, copied out the verses in Hebrew, greek LXX, and various other versions. I also copied out the ev layout. I originally started with Logos 3 from where I started from Genisis 1 1 It is slow-I do not find it easy- but there are so many resouces you can get lost. I am a very old student and I am not a clerical professional. I am a pew sitter in my church, but have led home groups and done other things years ago. But get in there and you might do better than the other formal training. I do believe you need time to get the nuances of the language Richard Leach

Without looking at the description on the product page, this resource consists of DVDs which contain instruction on how to effectively use the resources available in Logos 4 for language study. No other resources are included.

The DVD's have videos. No resources for Logos library. Caveat: suggest a minimum of original languages and higher if want to see grammatical items and word study using your Logos library (preferable Scholar's Silver or higher). Both Greek and Hebrew grammatical videos focus on what is important to understand about grammar. Logos has grammatically tagged resources so do not need to memorize spelling paradigms.

The 31st Greek Video focuses on doing advanced word study while the preceding videos use Logos 4 to discuss various Greek grammatical usages, e.g. accusative in apposition in video 9. The 2nd Greek video focuses on the Greek alphabet.

In contrast, the 3rd Hebrew video focuses on word study. The last Hebrew video (# 11) focuses on the alphabet while videos 4 through 10 focus on grammatical items, e.g. indefinite vs definite noun usage in video 4.

What I'm looking for is really a lesson as a professor would do in a class but with the Logos in addition to it. Thus for example a video on which he explains how to conjugate the word to be or to love or other things (that's what I'm strongly looking for to be able to analyze a verb in the whole, and this, even without the logos software.

I think it would be nice to put a more extensive excerpt from the videos.

Then, this resource is not for you. It is about using Logos for language study, not about traditional grammar.

Apologies: personally not know of original language college video courses that use Logos 4 for textbooks and lessons. Since desire to master language(s), prudent to avoid interlinear display of English and Greek/Hebrew/Aramaic words since range of word meaning and nuances are often a bit different.

Thank you very much for your help. I think I'll forget about this DVD set. It doesn't fit to what I'm looking for. I'm really looking for a much broader resources than only the forms only found in the NT. IMO, it's easier to use more as a language first, conjugating many verbs in each mood, tenses, persons and really get deeper into knowing the Koine language. It seems not to be so. BTW, I've heard a mp3 by Pelt, and franckly, I I couldn't recognize when and what he was saying in Greek! To pronounce Greek with a american accent is impossible to follow for me! Anyway, the "Learn to read NT Greek" and "NT-Greek Notebook" seem very interesting.

I'm really looking for a much broader resources than only the forms only found in the NT.

Logos free Perseus collection => Perseus Classics Collection (1,114 vols.) has 3 Greek syntax resources. Another free Perseus collection => Duke Databank of Documentary Papyri (256 vols.)

What you need is a reading program in which you read a variety of Greek works. Include various books of the NT and also the LXX, Philo, Josephus and the classical Greek writers in the Perseus collection. The more you read the better your Greek will become. Be sure to get BDAG and LSJ (Lust can sometimes be helpful too). When you look up a word in the lexicon, really devour the article. Look at the passages cited and see why one understanding of the word is to be preferred over another. Don't simply look through the glosses until you find one that you like.
