Journal of Biblical Literature-Recommendation?

I am looking to spend my Christmas credit and have this journal on my list. I was wondering if anyone who has this resource and use it might give me their opinion of it's strengths/weaknesses/usefulness. I am in seminary and preach 15-20 times a year.

I guess this one slipped down accidentally! I'm sure others have much better opinions than mine.

I don't have the resource, but enjoyed a JBL subscription, which meant I could peruse the older volumes at will.

I liked it a lot because the articles are a nice short read, to the point, and typically point to other authors you can follow up on.

The subjects, as you can imagine bounce all over the place, some critical discussions, social, and so on; a broad coverage. But typically each article is very narrow.

I stopped my subscription since I was busy buying Logos resources, but now can re-subscribe.

I bought JBL when it was on prepub, and I do find it useful for my studies (master level). Provided you are not expecting a conservative view, it contains some useful articles.

I am looking to spend my Christmas credit and have this journal on my list. I was wondering if anyone who has this resource and use it might give me their opinion of it's strengths/weaknesses/usefulness. I am in seminary and preach 15-20 times a year.

I have a major complaint about this set - it doesn't include more early volumes. I like in depth studies on short passages and the JBL fits that mold. There is enough variety in approach that I learn something useful from every issue.

You may want to see how many references there are to the JBL in your favorite resources. That will give you a way to gauge your interest.

I was working on a subject and downloaded a number of PDF files from JSTOR dealing with it. It would be desirable if we were to have them in Logos. HINT, HINT.
