The Works of Thomas à Kempis made it to publication from bids, so why is it now on pre-pub again?
Evan, Hi!. All community pricing books go into "pre-pub" status, once they have reached their production cost goal in CP. Those who bid on CP get that resource at an extraordinary price. Those who bid during pre-pub at a good price, and after that, it is anybodies guess what the resource goes for.
Logos still has to produce the book. But their costs are covered through community pricing. but now they can only be purchased at the "pre-pub" price. Does that help clarify for you?
It seems to me a lot of last minute cancellation from buyers/bidders. Of course this is just speculation on my part.
Edit: it was to ship yesterday and i can see it is still gaining interest to get into the production stage on the Pre-Pub page http://www.logos.com/product/15483/the-works-of-thomas-a-kempis

Evan is wondering because it now looks like this:
I'm wondering too...
ah hahhhh. that is interesting. thanks for looking deeper into his data.
thanks for looking deeper into his data.
I didn't. I'd already seen it myself. [:)]
But, yes, it's certainly interesting...
Very strange. It was to ship yesterday, and then it was postponed to Jan 23, but now it's back in "Almost there" status. I locked it at $35 in CP, for which I'm very thankful. But it's a bummer they could have been so close to finished with it and then decided they needed more money to cover production. I thought the possibility that they might lose some bidders late in the game was built into the CP/pre-pub process. I've never seen a book go backwards from ready to ship to Gathering Interest before. Very strange.
Rosie, I agree this is very strange indeed
It sounds like just an internal goof, temporarily, which they noticed and fixed right away. Glad to see it will actually be shipping soon.
