Identifying amount of Hard Disk Space Used by Logos 4
Would appreciate it if someone can tell me how I can go about identifying the amount of Hard Disk Space (in GB) on my MacBook which is being taken by my Logos 4 programme/resources.

In your Applications folder, Logos Bible Software 4 should be just a little less than 200Mb

My Windows library uses over 18 Gig - is that all the space a Mac needs or is that just the progam only?

Jack showed two places to check. The first is the library*, which is where your resource files are kept. This will be the LARGE one, unless you don't own many books. The other is the application itself, which is what Jack was referring to when he wrote: "Logos Bible Software 4 should be just a little less than 200Mb."
You can expect L4 to be about the same size on either win or mac.
*NOTE: If you have Lion, the library is automatically hidden by default. To reveal it, press the option key while viewing the "go" menu options under finder.

My Logos4 folder on Windows 7 that includes Logos 4.5 RC 1 application uses 23.8 GB while my Logos4 folder on Mac OS X 10.6.8 uses 26.19 GB with Logos 4.5 RC 1 application in my Documents folder using 206.1 MB so combined usage is 26.40 GB. Comparing Resources folder, noted Windows 7 usage on disk is 15.6 GB while size on disk shows 16,822,697,984 bytes so Windows is using 1 KB = 1,024 Bytes. In Contrast, Mac OS X 10.6.8 Finder is using 1 KB = 1,000 Bytes, which is the same as hard disk manufacturers so comparable disk usage on Mac is 24.56 GB, which is a bit more (about 3 %) than Windows.

- Windows & Mac use different methods for reporting a KB (1,024 vs 1,000).
- Because of these methods, users will note a difference between the platforms.
- Even with the different methods taken into consideration, your mac build is about 3% larger.

Yes, overall my Logos4 folder on my Mac uses about 3 % more disk space than Windows 7. Observation: Library Index is the same size on Mac and PC.

No problems. It might be better if I were to give screenshots & illustrations. The first photo shows the "option" key on a mac keyboard. The screen shot below shows the "Go" menu under finder. NOTE: The "Library" is hidden until you press the option key.

Hi,
Just want to add that on top of the above discussion, you need to consider the additional free space required for Logos 4 to complete an indexing exercise when new resources are added to your Library.
