Logos 4.5

Quoting my Logos RSS feed just now.......
"A new version of Logos Bible Software is on its way! Version 4.5 is an update available for both Windows and Mac."
Neither my desktop nor my netbook know of this update. Has anyone downloaded it yet? I know Logos is notorious for reporting updates prior to their being available.

4.5 RC2 has just been released in Beta but not announced elsewhere (RC1 was announced via web link).

Logos 4.5 Release Candidate 2 was released to beta channel earlier today; not know when Logos 4.5 will be declared "Gold" for stable use.
Suggest reading threads => Logos 4.5 Release Candidate available (PC) and => Logos 4.5 Release Candidate available (Mac)
Logos 4.5 combines highlighting and notes; every highlight is a by reference note in a note file (default note file name is the highlighting palette).

on its way
Read "on its way" as "coming soon" but not "has been released already".
As others have mentioned, the second Release Candidate (RC2) has been put out to the beta channel and is being tested by beta testers as we speak. If nothing major is found to be wrong with it over the next week or so, it will be declared the Gold release and it will be available to everyone. However, if another showstopper bug is found, that will be fixed and there will be a RC3, and so on.... So yes, it's on its way, but it's not there yet. Could perhaps be as early as a week from now.

Well, the announcement made me believe it had been released to the public. Logos does this typically. I guess I should know by now.
I agree the wording is a bit misleading. Instead of saying "Version 4.5 is an update available for both Windows and Mac" it should say "Version 4.5 will be an update available for..." or "Version 4.5 is a version that will be available..."
Better yet, perhaps they should wait to put that message out to the RSS feed until after the release is available, hmm? Maybe somebody internally doesn't know the difference between a release candidate and an actual release and thought it was released to the public already and hit the Post button for that blog entry too early.

Other possibility is Logos 4.5 RC 2 being declared "Gold" very soon, perhaps in a day or two.
Concur blog entry should have been after stable RSS feeds have Logos 4.5 available so update now would work when the blog is read.

Sorry for the confusion. 4.5 is being released today, and the blog post was intentionally posted yesterday to provide some advance warning about it and the highlighting changes. The post does make it sound like it's "on its way" at this moment, and should have been clearer. I've submitted changes which should be reflected in the post soon.

So does this mean that the iOS app will also be released this week? Looking forward to it very much. The Logos books given to me as a Christmas gift are the kind of book where interacting with notes and highlighting is needed. Since they are all over 500 pages reading on my laptop is not a feasible option.

If it goes according to plan it will be released "soon" after v4.5.

I'm travelling today; luckily I'm in a 4G area...am hoping for the best upon getting 4.5--especially dramatic improvements in applying highlighting to my ESV.

In my experience I tend to find the update downloading and need to check the forum to see what it is!

It's out, mine updated great!
What's unusual is that it is dubbed RC3 - it's not the same release as RC2 in Beta!

We fixed two crashes (caused by the same bug) that were found last night in testing. This was a very minor change to the code so we decided to release it as RC 3 (rather than doing a Service Release, for example).

I didn't expect that, but will it be released on the Beta channel for those that expect the last RC to be the "Gold" one?

Well, I have release 4.50.0.1857, Dave, and it isn't an RC.

No, but it was/is an RC (read Bradley's comment + the last RC in Beta is usually the one that is released as "Gold" if there are no problems). Either way an RC is not tagged with "RC" in the version information in the About.. window of L4.

I knew that.
I just thought you'd want to compare the number of my "gold" release" and compare it to your RC3.
