Bug: Returns to wrong location in commentary after a PG
Steps
- linked split screen with ESV and Believer's Bible Commentary at Matt 13:44
- ensure previous saved location in History for BBC is 2 Peter 2.1 (probably do this first)
- up swipe in BBC
- go to PG for Matt 13:44
- go to another commentary which replaces BBC in split screen
- press Back key and return to PG
- press Back key and return to original resources
- BBC is at 2 Pe 2.1 whilst ESV is at Matt 13:44 (PANELS ARE STILL LINKED)
I think that the problem stems from History only reflecting the location of the bible after scrolling it to that position, but it is not (consistently) saved for BBC (which follows because of the link).

To clarify, my resources are on the device.
Here's a similar scenario
- Have a linked split screen with ESV and Believer's Bible Commentary at Matt 13:44
- tap in BBC to get the menu
- choose another commentary (say BKC) with a different saved location in History e.g. Mark 6:48
- BKC replaces BBC in split screen, but
- BKC and ESV are both at Mark 6:48 (PANELS ARE STILL LINKED)
I would expect the incoming resource to link with the ESV at Matt 13:44Dave

Both these issues (and similar ones) have been addressed in beta 2. Let us know if you experience any other problems with panel-linking or the back button behavior!

Oops, sorry Dave! I misunderstood that you went to your history to open the resource (rather than going to your library and opening a resource which had a different location in your history).
We'll look into it, but for now, that's as designed -- if you go to History, it's assumed that you wanted to go to your last location in that resource. However, I can also see how one would assume that clicking on the book itself (rather than a specific entry in it), would just open the resource to the "active" location.
For now, the way to do what you want is to go to your library and re-open the book from there.
Thanks!

I go to History because I can find the resource quickly from those I use regularly. So, yes, it would be good if the "active" location would override the location from History.

I can only comment from using Logos on the PC, not any mobile device (this may change in 2012...), but I'm pretty certain that the History works the same there - and basically that's what I understood it to be it's main feature: going back to where I was. I'd suggest
a) not to implement the same feature with different reactions on various platforms (e.g. History on Android opens a prior resource to the current location, History on the PC opens it to the prior location, History on IOS opens it to the first page ... no way)
b) not to take away the History as is now: imho it would not be good if the "active" location would override the location from History - everyone is able to relocate the resource to a currently interesting location, but if resources from History don't open at the former location, there is no way to go back (I may have forgotten what passage I was looking at when I last used that resource, maybe I didn't look at it from a passage-driven, but from a thematic standpoint etc).
Dave, I understand your usage of the History as a workaround for a missing "last x resources used" or "recent files" list - this rather calls for a feature addition than a change in the way the History works.

History provides a consistency in opening a book to a previous location when I want to continue a study from that point. With two panels my study focuses on the "active reference":
- with unlinked panels this is determined by the resource last used. When linked they share that location.
- if I then change one of the resources I expect the active reference to be maintained whether it is opened from Library or History, unless I open it from a specific location in History i.e. if I tap the resource name I'm not selecting a previous location.

Not that this entirely addresses your desires, Dave, but a "Recent Resources" feature is indeed planned, which will provide the list of recent resources similar to history, but with the "open to active location" behavior you desire.

Thanks for the consideration, but could that be a filtered part of Library rather than having another list/another menu item?

The other thing that would work for me in Library is a filter for downloaded resources (whilst online).
