iPad Questions

A few questions:

  • Does LOGOS run on the iPad or is it the APP that runs?
  • Considering price, is there a less expensive tablet that will run Logos and a way for me to view my document? I like to use Word.
  • Finally, do I use something like DOCUMENTS TO GO to have my message on a tablet?

Thanks in advance.

    Hi Clay

Logos 4 does not run on the iPad, rather you use the Logos app to get access to your resources.

You can get the Logos app on Android tablets, most of which are cheaper than the iPad but the iOS app is currently more advanced than the Android one.

People do use "documents to go" or Dropbox to get documents from laptop to tablet if that is what you are looking for.

    Hope this helps, Graham

    To answer your questions:

    1. The Logos App runs on your iPad - it is not the same as the desktop version of Logos

    2. Not until an Andriod version of the App is released unless you can live with using the web interface at bible.logos.com

    3. You can but you don't need to

  • Considering price, is there a less expensive tablet that will run Logos and a way for me to view my document? I like to use Word.

Apple offers refurbished iPad's => http://store.apple.com/us/browse/home/specialdeals/ipad with same warranty as new.  Anticipating price drop later this year after Apple releases a new iPad model.

Looking in Android forum, noticed some Logos users have Kindle Fire (noticed used one for $ 165.00 plus $ 5.49 shipping).

Microsoft does not offer Word for an iPad, but does have an office365 web site.

Does LOGOS run on the iPad or is it the APP that runs?

It is an App not the full Logos. I find the App very useful when doing light study reading. I'm waiting for them to fix the sync issue so that my reading plans sync. The upcoming update should also include highlighting and notes on iOS.

Considering price, is there a less expensive tablet that will run Logos and a way for me to view my document? I like to use Word.

There are several Android tablets that will run Logos. I have been told it's not as mature as the iOS version but I'm sure it won't be to long before it catches up. I use an iPad myself and love. It's one of the best tech investments I've made.

Finally, do I use something like DOCUMENTS TO GO to have my message on a tablet?

If you go with an iPad there are several options, one of which is Documents to go. Apple also has the Pages app that can export to .doc if you use word on your computer. I also use Omni Outliner (expensive for an iOS App) which is a great outlining tool. I use this for work a lot as I am not currently in full time ministry.

There are several tools you can use to sync or get your notes to the iPad. Dropbox (which I use) along with Goodreader for organizing files., I've also been told that Sugar Sync works well

Ok so non of the other posters gave the answer that I would give to these questions to here's my tuppence worth worth...

Does LOGOS run on the iPad or is it the APP that runs?

It is normal to run the Logos App (free) on the iPad but it is possible to run the desktop version remotely using remote access apps that let you effectively remote control your desktop computer from your iPad.

Considering price, is there a less expensive tablet that will run Logos and a way for me to view my document? I like to use Word.

There are many less expensive ways to run logos – non of them are anything like using an iPad. If you 'like to use Word' then using a tool that is built to facilitate Word might be a good idea. If, however, you use Word just because you are familiar with it then there are alternative solutions that might surprise you. There are many ways to display .doc and .docx files on the iPad

Finally, do I use something like DOCUMENTS TO GO to have my message on a tablet?

I am not familiar with 'Documents to Go' I use 'Dropbox' to maintain access to my files and 'Evernote' for notes and snippets.

    Clay-

If you like Word and want to type using your Ipad, you can get two apps (CloudOn or OnLive Desktop).  Both have Word, Excel, and Powerpoint on them - I got them for free but don't know if that is still available.  Also they use dropbox, so if you save a document there, you can edit it or read it from your Ipad.

    Good luck,

Thanks for your tuppence!           Much appreciated.           I'm a new iPad2 user (daughter's gift at Christmas) and am wondering what is the simplest and best way of placing and reading .docx files on my becoming-very-precious-to-me gizmo!

    Hi Milford

I use Dropbox to back up my files on the computer and it gives me access to them on the iPad using the Dropbox app.

You can simply click on a docx file in drop box and it will display on the iPad.

Drop box panel with your document displayed you can choose to open in Pages if you wish to edit the document.

Another app that I use a lot is Evernote - again you can open docx files within the app for reading or transfer to Pages for editing.

I have found Documents to go and SugarSync work quite well together. Of course, you need to purchase the premium Docs app for the cloud integration. I've been quite pleased with it.
