Where do the notes go in iphone?

I have been eargerly awaiting notes in the iphone app, but am puzzled how it is supposed to work.  It seems to bring my notes from the desktop down ok (only looked at one or two).  However, when I attempt to make a note in iphone, it just disappears.  I have no idea where it goes, but seems there is a bug somewhere.
