I've been getting the classic commentaries on community pricing, but $90 seems a little much. I'd really like to see it around $50, but his is going to take a lot more bids. It is very close to crossing the 100% and probably will close next Friday.

so the clear manuever here is to NOT tip it over at $90 by placing a $90 or higher bid (please! [A]) Lets see if we can coax a lower price over the line.
If Philippians crosses the line at $ 90 (enough bids have been placed to cover estimated production cost), which is followed by more bids, then price drops for everyone, potentially to $ 40 (or lower) if enough more bids are placed.
Keep Smiling [:)]
I'd like this resource, but not for US$90 if at all possible. So for me, I'd love it if some of those higher bids dropped back to 50 or so. No need to bid too high please or we all pay more than needed, or some have to miss out.
I'd love it if some of those higher bids dropped back to 50 or so.
Yes, this set and Revelation is out of line with the others. If a few of the higher bidders drop back to the lower peak (40 or 50) then we get a better price for all. If it crosses at 90 I'm not sure that enough extra will come on boar to drive the price down.

DANG, that is close. I'm afraid if I just breathe toward the direction of my laptop screen it will go over the top. I do not want this resource at 90 bucks, no I do not! (courtesy of Dr. Seuss)
It's already gone over the top. I have received an email notice[:(].
Even at $90 its a better price than after its published, but I hope we can drive it down.
Bummer. I'm going to stand my ground at $40 and hope a few more people join me. It would have been easier of some of the folks at $90 had lowered their bids to $40 to give us more time. At least we do have another week to get it down to $40. Still worth trying. Any more bids at $40? Now it's a no-risk situation because if it doesn't come down to $40 you won't have to pay for it at all.
My bid has been $30, but now I join you at $40.
too expensive at $90. Have my bid at $40
yep. $40

$40 it is

Yes, I'll keep my original $40 bid. My fear is that people will see the $90 headline price and be put off from bidding now.
I just increased my bid to $40, even that is more than I really wanted to bid. I was amazed to get the email advising the price was $90, I think that is far too much for this resource
I'm in at $40 also. I would probably go as high as $50.
Doubt $90 will be the Fridays closing price but if need be I would rather miss March Madness than miss out on any of these commentary collections.
P.S. I had nothing to do with this high bid , I always bid $40.
I've been in at $40 since the start. I'll keep an eye on it before the deadline.
Same here. $90 is way too much for this set (IMHO).
This set is much like what happened with the Medieval Preaching and Spirituality Collection. It had few bids, than all of a sudden it skyrocketed with high bids and passed at $90 and closed at $70. If this set makes it to $40 I'll will be pleasantly surprised.
I've bumped mine up to $80 from $40 to try to bring it down - I do not want to pay even $80, but will if I have to.
Who all of a sudden has the money to drop $100's on all of these community priced books. I call shenanigans! This is worth about $40, so lets get it down!
It's down to $80 - let's keep the bids coming!
Here is the link again.
Yeah at $80 already!! Lets keep it going down![:D] [:D] [:D]
I've now bumped mine down to $70.
I'm going for the peak at $40. I think paying more is paying too much.
Same here; I don't know why folks bid it up to such a high price--it's like the Hunt brothers trying to corner the Silver market
Those who have bid $40 or $50 have nothing to lose by temporarily bidding at $70 or $80 to try to get this down to a level they would be willing (and the rest of us would prefer) to pay. You have until next Friday to lower the bid again.

I am not sure I understand your logic... If you have a winning bid of $90 and you increase your bid to the max bid of $170. Effectively you would raise the graph on the lower side of the bidding, because your bid is now $80 over the winning amount, hence putting more dollars in the overall bucket. I would think if everyone increases their bid to the max of $170 then it would lower the price faster on the lower side of the graph because the overall cumulative dollars are adding up fast. Is this logic correct?
me too.

By increasing from $40 to $80 I raised the $80 a little - the exact same affect would have been had if I raised it to ninety or $170, but psychologically I don't wish to do that, so I'm chasing this one down. If everyone followed suit, and those who bid at $40 raised their bid to $80 or $70, we would bring this down quicker, which would make it more likely that we could get it down to fifty or forty by next Friday. When people sit on a $40 bid, it is effectively not doing anything until others bring it down - if they raise the bid, they are helping to bring it down to the bid they want, and there is no risk as long as they change it back before bidding ends.
This make sense... People are not helping this as much by sitting on $40 bid because if already went over the production line. RAISE your bids and it would have a better effect on the overall price.
I agree that this is the best way forward and have done the same.
RAISE your bids and it would have a better effect on the overall price.

Just a couple more bids at $70 and it will be down to that, which is setting a good trend and showing reasonable progress with six days yet to go.... [:)]

Yes... I think if we get some more people to move up to $60-70 from $40 it will encourage others to bid. We need to show some progress if we are going to get others to bid.
Just moved it to $70 and it's crossed the line
Cool! Now moving bid to $60.
Peace to all! *smile* and .... ....... Always Joy in the Lord!
If it does go down a bit, I will raise my bid to $45. Really as high as I can go right now!
1 Thessalonians 5:11
It looks like $40 is at about 85% which is much better than it was about 12 hours ago. I think we have a good chance to see it reach $40 by noon Friday.
I just lowered my bid to $60 which is the next to cross 100%. It looks like it is about at 90%.
Since we are on another forum page here is the link.

Why would you lower your bid? It is like letting air out of a balloon, it needs all the air to stay in it, in order to lower the price further. If you remove overall dollars more people need to bid.
I'm not willing to pay more than $40 either, but I've just raised my bid to $60. My theory is that if we can get $60 as the displayed price, more people will bid, and hopefully that will drive the price down to $60 or lower. If it does move to $60, I'll reduce my bid to $50, because I'm still not willing to pay that amount.
I lowered mine too - as long as it doesn't immediately return to $80, it's fine - it doesn't change anything either way, but it's nice to think we're chasing it down. It also means that there must be lots of new bidders jumping on the $70 since our bidding down isn't sending it back up.
It also means that there must be lots of new bidders jumping on the $70
Or those that had lower bids raised it to to get it to the next mark. Seeing its already at $70 leaving it there would be as helpful as leaving it at $40. $60 is the next mark to hit.

Leaving it wouldn't make any difference since a bid for $70 is by default a bid for anything lower as well - including $60. But that doesn't stop me from chasing it down and lowering my bid.
$90 seems a little much
Got the notification that it'll close this Friday at $90. I'm content to miss out at $5 / book, unless someone knows of a resource within this collection that warrants a higher price all by itself.
EDIT: after reading your posts, I think I'm still content to miss out at $70, the current CP price.
Well said! I am following the same approach.

Perhaps people are finally getting how this bidding thing works.[:D]

If they were, we wouldn't have this problem!
