Reading Plan
First, I am very thyankful Logos finally has highlighting. Thank you!
Now, my question. I do most of my reading on my ipad. I am using the daily reader that comes with Logos and shows up on home page. When I do, it makes me use the RSV version of the Catholic Bible and no matter how many times I choose the NAB (because of the footnotes and references) it makes me use the RSV on the daily reading plan. Is there a reason?
I tried to change the daily reader to footsteps, but on the ipad there is no way to check off your progress.
Final question, are there other daily readers that replace on the on the homepage?
Thanks

Hi Steve,
Welcome to the forum.
I think that your troubles will soon be at an end. A last minute glitch has meant that highlighting and notes sync has been temporarily withdrawn.
This will no doubt delay the release of the update that provides for Reading Plan syncing from desktop machines.
Once that release is promulgated you will be able to set up a reading plan on your desktop machine and have it sync to your iPad.
As to the Bible - have you tried going More-Settings-Preferred Bible and making a choice?
The biggest problem with most of the Logos offerings is the inability to spell 'honour' and 'saviour' correctly.

I have not had a problem yet with highlights. I want to read on my ipad and choose the Bible I use for the reading plan. I go to settings and choose prefeered Bible as the NAB, but when I click on todays reading, it always goes back to RSV

Are you perchance accessing your reading plan when not connected to the internet and have not downloaded the NAB onto your device?

nope...and the same thing happens on PC. Maybe NAB not set up to work with reading plan?
Are there other other reading plans I can use that can take place as the default one?

Steve - Sorry for your frustration! To be honest, I am having some problems following this thread. Would you mind if I started from scratch? Several things:
- Reading plans are supposed to be set up / customized from within L4 MAC/PC. If you need assistance with that, let us know.
- There is a sync issue which is preventing reading plans from syncing properly with mobile devices.
- I am unsure what you mean by "daily reader." Do you mean a daily reading plan? Do you mean a calendar devotional?
- I am unsure what you mean by "footsteps." Is that a resource in your library?
As for reading plans: Logos is at work on an update to both L4 MAC/PC & the mobile app. The public beta for L4 has already begun (4.5a); the mobile app will begin a private beta soon.

ok....let me see if I can explain better.
When I click on the Logos App on my Ipad and go to home page, the first thing there is "Read the Bible in a Year" Under that, there is a section on "Devotionals". Under that, there is a section called "News".
If I click on the "Read the Bible in a year", it takes me a screen with dates on it. I click on a date and it opens up the Bible to the chapters I need to read for that day. It opens to the RSV. I want it to open to NAB. I have the NAB as my "Preferred Bible". But it won't.
It is the same on my PC.
At the top bar on the PC Program, there is a place to click on my preferred Bible. I clicked on NAB. Then, you can scroll to the right on that top bar and there is, again, there is a Read the Bible in a year. I click on the scripture link and it takes me to the RSV instead of the NAB. Can't figure it out.

Steve - OK. I think I can help you. You will have to forgive me though because I only use Mac's, so my screen shots may look a little different. If there are some differences, our PC users will have to help out.
The problem is that the reading plan you have is set up for the RSV. Your preferred bible is irrelevant to how the reading plan is set up.
In your file menu, you can type "reading plan" and the (hideous) file menu box will show you your reading plans:
Click on your reading plan. A box will pop up. At the top you will notice that my reading plan says:
Read: English Standard Version, M'Chenney Reading Plan, every day, starting Jan 1 2011 and finishing in one year.
Each of those you can click and change. In your case you will change to the bible of your choice. It may be preferable to actually create a new plan. Instead of clicking on your old reading plan, click on reading plan on the left side under "New."
NOTE: The sync problem will probably mean that your new plan will not show up on your mobile device. This will be fixed in the near future as I have previously explained.

wow...that worked...awesome!
Now another question, where did you get those other reading plans? I only have one

You can create as many as you like. There are some predesigned ones, or you can create your own. I actually am hoping that Logos creates the ability to really customize the plans. In the mean time, you can ask questions here. You should take a look at the wiki section: http://wiki.logos.com/Reading_Plans

How do I add one of these to Logos?

Peace to you, Steve! *smile* and ... Always Joy in the Lord!
Please let me add to the others' welcome to the Logos Forums. Glad you're here!
You may create reading plans by using the "file" menu of Logos4. I am attaching a screen shot.
There is also reading plan infor on Wiki.logos.com specifically : http://wiki.logos.com/search.aspx?q=reading+plan

Getting SOOO frustrated.
ok...so I decided to add a reading plan of NT in 6 months. So, I did. Now, on my top toolbar, if I scroll across, there it is NAB NT in 6 months. If I click on file, it is there, NAB NT in 6 months. BUT, if I click on actual reading plan in the file menu, it comes up as NAB in one year. AND on my ipad, it still shows NAB in one year....
sigh

Steve,
Right now only notes and highlights sync with the iOS app. The next update to the iOS app should include reading plans sync. It's being put into beta testing now. The CEO of Logos has said it will be a very short beta testing cycle. Then you can create any reading plan and sync. This doesn't just include Bibles, you can create a reading plan for any book in your library.
Blessings!

Then why, when I changed the reading on my PC last night from RSV to NAB did it automatically change on my ipad?
and how do I change the reading on my ipad?
0 -
Steve - Can you give us a screen shot like THIS ONE? Make sure you type "reading plan" into the search field. Maybe you can also give us one like THIS as well.
As Philana wrote, the reading plans are not syncing properly right now. You will be frustrated if you don't keep that in mind since there is nothing you can do to fix the situation.

I understand. But IF they do not sync, then why did it sync last night and then how do I change the reading plan on my ipad?

But IF they do not sync, then why did it sync last night
The app will randomly sync, but it is not reliable. Mine has not synced since early November.
how do I change the reading plan on my ipad?
You don't. You change it on your desktop computer, but you must wait for the sync to be fixed.
Did you get the reading plan working on your desktop?

Nope......feeling pretty stupid

Gonna sleep on this one. But, since you have been so helpful, let me ask another question....
on the desktop, I can click on something that leads me to all my highlights I have done. How do I do that on my ipad? Is there something I click on that takes me to all the highlights and notes I have made

Unfortunately no. The notes feature on the mobile app is designed to view & create notes directly tied to a section of text (scripture or otherwise). The is not currently the ability to create notes not tied to text, nor is there a way to view all of your notes. Passage lists and clippings are also not available.

I am not sure I explained myself.
Lets say I make 20 highlights on my ipad. Is there a way I can click on something on my ipad and go to all those 20 highlights?

-
ok...thank you
0 -
Darn. I really wish you could access all your highlights. On Olive Tree Ipad app, (and all the platforms) I can go to my highlights and, for example, I can go to my purple highlight (for scriptures about God's Glory) and pull up every highlight I have done in purple, see every verse I highlighted, and click on a verse to go straight to that verse. I can do that on my ipad, iphone and PC.
I really like Logos, but it seems things like this, that others like OT do so well, Logos just can't master

Logos 4 on Mac and PC have highlighting in a note file(s) so can see every verse highlighted with option to open.
One option is voting and commenting on Logos User Voice suggestion => Highlighting and Notes Integration Improvements
Keep Smiling [:)]

Thank you, I will.
I know the POC can do it, but I really do not use the PC to study. I use my ipad and iphone. Easier to carry around and study wherever I am
