4.5 Bug (?) Report

Either there are still a few "glitches" in the 4.5 ( v4.50.0.1869 ) release... or i'm just missing something :) 1. When i save a note and go to rename it, which i do often, as i highlight the name i want to change... it disappears complete. It shows up again when i click on something else, but i can't highlight it to change it. And 2.) In all my past notes, where i highlighted a scripture, then added my note – the font has changed, but just in the reference; most – but not all of them – to Abler New. My default font is Altheas Logos. i want it to be "20" throughout, but seem to need to set that every time, and can i make a "universal" adjustment to change those references back? i LOVE my Logos Bible software; and thanks for the $50 credit...

Randal - I don't know if I understand your problem:

    1. When i save a note and go to rename it, which i do often, as i highlight the name i want to change... it disappears complete. It shows up again when i click on something else, but i can't highlight it to change it.

Are you saying that you want to change the title of the note itself, or the title of the note file? Either way, things are working fine for me. When I click on either a note file title or on the title of a note itself, the old title remains and I can change any part of it that I want to. I noticed that you are on the stable channel. I am using 4.5a Beta 2 (4.51.0.1906).

can i make a "universal" adjustment to change those references back?

If I understand your question, you are wanting to do a bulk change to previous notes. I don't think that is possible. Sorry! [:S] That would be nice. [Y]

i've added three, quick screen shots. The first shows the title of the note file i want to change. The second, "Notes: 29th January 12" is highlighted and i'm about to select "Rename" from the drop down menu. The third, i have that "blue highlight" and my text has disappeared; no option / ability to change what i can't see :) all i really want to do is drop off the "Notes: " part because i already know it's a note, and i'm a little OCD... ( so my kids tell me :)

Appreciate the help. My / your second question i'll reply to in... well... my next reply; so i can add a separate screenshot(s).

In my "previous" notes, ie: the verses from Exodus 35:5, 37:7, and 39:8 were also in 20 point (?) Athelas Logos. With the update to 4.5, they changed to Alber New. Some of my previous notes had been "tweaked"... they were not just a "highlight scripture" in one panel "and add my note" process; i had added to / altered something in them – so they seem to have remained unscathed, ie: Exodus 37:17. So the "universal" adjustment would be to take those Alber New notes back to the Athelas Logos font.

i also find... now, even though i have set my default font as Athelas Logos, any time i highlight scripture and then add a note, it still won't set the reference in Athelas Logos, although the note will be.

The first shows the title of the note file i want to change.

Well Randal - it looks like you HAVE found a bug. I am not sure if this is a known bug or not. The reason that I was having troubles understanding you is because you are not really looking to change the name of the note file or note... you are wanting to change the name of the favorite link to the notes. You are right, however, that you are unable to change the name. This is clearly a bug! I will see if there is another post about this or not.

[EDIT: I created a new thread explaining the specific bug.]

I have no idea if it will help you in any way, but this is from the release notes:

    • Removed default note text size from Program Settings (default is now set in the Notes panel) and implemented new command to change the text size of old notes which used the default size set in Program Settings and have not been edited for size since the option was removed: Set Old Default Notes Text Size to x where x is the desired font size or ‘default’ to set notes to current default size.

You could try that command and see if it at least changes the size to what you want it to be. Unfortunately there doesn't seem to be a Set Old Default Notes Font to x command. Only Set Default Notes Font to x, but that won't affect any existing notes, I believe, only new ones.

Randal - I just took a look at your other concern, and I must apologize, but I don't have any experience with changing fonts & point sizes. I just leave it at whatever pops up.

Under program settings, it looks like you can change the default typeface, but it would appear to me that its broken. My default typeface is "Helvetica," but that is not what is being used when I create a new note. This may be a bug as well, but I am unsure. Hopefully someone with more experience in this area will chime in.
