ASV
Thanks for the resource update this morning allowing me to remove ASV from my downloaded resources!

The ASV is still stuck on my iPad and iPhone (even after the new app update with highlighting). How can I get these removed?

The ASV is an essential part of the app and cannot be removed.
Hi Alabama,
Actually, Kaye is quite correct. It appears as though the update to 2.0 now allows us to remove the ASV. Indeed, I have just done so and then gone into airplane mode to confirm the results and, voila, no more ASV.

Hi Chad,
I managed to remove this resource by opening it in reading mode, selecting 'i' and then hitting 'remove'. The app asked me to confirm, which I did, the resource is now gone.

Kaye's post is an OLD one... check the date. I still cannot remove mine, and I have both the released version and a beta version of the mobile app. Can you give us a screen shot of the ASV removed (i.e. with a "download" instead of "remove" button under info)?

Apologies, Alabama, I missed that Kaye's post was old. It does appear, however, that with 2.0 the ASV can be removed (as per screenshot below),
I had only tried this on the iPad. On reading your post, however, I went back to my iPhone. Strangely, the ASV cannot be removed from the iPhone...

Wow. Thanks for the screenshot. At this point I am puzzled - I have never been able to do this. [I don't understand why its a big deal to have it installed anyway, but many ask].
You had me doubting myself (I thought I might be hallucinating) and so I turned the iPad onto airplane mode and it has definitely gone,
It is strange that it can be removed from the iPad, but not from the iPhone. I would expect consistency in this respect.
I agree with you, though, in that I can see why one might want to remove it. I would have never considered removing it before I saw this post. Having said this, hopefully it will be useful to some.

But I can't remove mine! I almost wonder if you are experiencing a bug which allows you to remove it! Or perhaps you have another bible downloaded which allows you to delete it? I have both the ASV & ESV downloaded. What do you have?

I have the feature, and I can remove any book from my iPad.

Or perhaps you are experiencing a bug which is preventing you from removing it? [:P]
In all seriousness, it is strange that functionality differs across UI devices which makes me wonder if it is perhaps a bug at my end. Remember that I am one of the few for whom sync has continued to operate flawlessly even during the downtime.
In terms of other Bibles, I certainly have the ESV (my preferred Bible), the NET and, latterly, the NIV.
In order to remove the ASV, I opened the resource in reading view, clicked on the 'i' and was presented with the option to remove. I have tried following the same steps on my iPhone 4 and am presented with the same 'remove' option, only the tab is now greyed out and unresponsive (which was formerly by design).

Gary - Everyone has the feature, but Logos has intentionally made it so that users cannot delete the ASV. If there is a change in policy/practice, we have not been made aware of it, nor is it consistently reproducible. Can you verify that you have deleted the ASV? Also, could you verify which bibles you have downloaded to your app?

I would agree with you except that Logos has explained in the forums that the ASV is an integral part of the functioning of the app, and the ability to remove it has been disabled.
Thanks for letting me know about your Bibles. Since I have the ESV downloaded, I don't think that can be it. I am certain that it is not the NIV, and am doubtful about the NET. Out of curiosity: can you delete your other bibles? If you are really adventurous, are you willing to try? [:)]

That's what I figured since the other "remove" options were red and it is grayed out in the ASV. I was only confused because some have said they've removed it. If there is a way, I'm dying to get rid of it. You would think Logos could pick a more widely used translation to permanently tattoo to our devices.

Everything appears to be functioning as expected. I removed and then reinstalled the NIV without incident.
Curious and curiouser.
I wonder if the universal restoration of sync will fix/break this for everyone (depending, of course, on one's perspective).

Dear Chad,
Apologies, I fear I may have added to the confusion. The more I think about it, the more I suspect that the ability to remove the ASV is a bug at my end. I suspect that the ASV will be restored with the impending update to the app. I expect I will then be in the same boat as everyone else.

I presume they have chosen the ASV because it is a standard and popular translation (albeit a little archaic) and because it is in the public domain (I assume).

Alabama, I.didn't understand that one specific Bible, ASV, was blocked from being deleted. I seldom use the ASV, but I want to keep it for reference, and so I will leave it undeleted.

Chad - I think it was chosen because it was the most modern free translation with a reverse interlinear.
Peace and every Blessing, Alabama! If it has a reverse interlinear, I am unable to find it. *smile*

I cannot remove ASV from my iPad. I am running the latest version of the app. My iPad is an iPad 1. Could that be a factor?

I just verified tonight with the developers that the ASV is not supposed to be able to be removed. I don't think the model of iPad has much bearing. It might be a bug that Andy could remove it, but its not really worth the devs time to squash it. [:)]
