"Error writing to file" when attempting to install an update.

Tried to open Logos - it asked to install an update; I clicked "OK." Logos closed and started to update ... then came this message:

Error writing to file: C:\Users\owner\AppData\Local\Logos4\System\Logos.Documents.Contracts.dll. Verify that you have access to that directory.

Now Logos will not open at all. What's up with that, and what's my next move?

(BTW, I've already gone in and un-quarantined the file that was quarantined by Webroot. Logos worked after that, but now has stopped working again, with no further files in quarantine.)

This is BY FAR the most discouraged I have been with this program since I torched Libronix 3 and threw in with Logos 4. I've scoured the other threads on this forum relating to 4.5 upgrade issues, and none of the suggestions I've found here have gotten me back up and running. As of now, I'm basically dead in the water with an otherwise excellent program in which I've invested many thousands of dollars over the years. I have much work to do, and I now realize how much I depend on Logos 4 to help me get it done.

Sorry for the rant.

what happens if you right click on your logos 4 icon and select the option to run as the admin?

Edit: other option is contacting Logos => http://www.logos.com/about/contact so have option of sharing desktop with Logos technical support.

My guess is that unquarantining the file in Webroot wrote it back with system-level permissions (because Webroot runs with high privileges on your system). This probably prevents our installer (which runs with user-level permissions) from overwriting it.

Since the file's going to be replaced by the update anyway, just try deleting it with Windows Explorer, then re-run the latest Logos 4 installer (or repair the existing installation). To repair an install, find C:\Users\owner\AppData\Local\Logos4\Install\Installers\Logos4.msi, right-click it, and choose Repair.

Marc, that appears to have fixed(?) the issue! Can you help me understand what happened and why this (seems to have) worked? Will I need to start Logos as an administrator from now on? In any event, thanks for your help.
