Bibiel Word Study Offline
I'm aware the currently a Bible Word Study cannot be done offline on iPad.
Is there plans on making this an available option on the Logos software? Or maybe two Logos apps: one with BWS offline option and one as it is.
That being said, is there a quick work around to be able to do a BWS offline? Even if it takes more work?

Hi Obed - and welcome to the forums.
I don't know of any plans to make an offline BWS search available - people have asked for this type of ability but no commitments from Logos as yet.
And no, I don't know of a workaround to make this feasible.
At the moment all of the intelligence in conducting BWS is done on Logos servers and so needs to be online.

The Bible Word Study works on my mac offline and the software is only 200 megs. WIth over 30 Gigs still available on my iPad, I would think there would be plenty of room. The new iPads have dual processors so even if it takes a bit longer, I would imagine it would be an appealing option to several users.

You don't. That feature is run on the Logos servers.
So basically the logos software on the iPad offline is a glorified book reader?
I sure hope they get this taken care of quickly or I'll be going back to Olivetree and spending my money there.

That is a little disingenuous, the app is considerably more than a book reader - what it is not is the desktop version.

I stated that the offline version was just a glorified book reader and I think that is a very honest statement. I will explain why, but I'm hoping for you to show me if I'm missing something.
Let's compare this to another app that is called Bible Reader (by Olive Tree). Notice that the app is called "reader" because that's what it is. However, everything that I can do with Logos offline, I can do with the Bible Reader app. In fact, using the Bible Reader app, I can use a reverse interlinear option and find the Hebrew and Greek words and definitions for the word that I select in Bible Reader. That is something that Logos cannot do offline. So yes, I think that offline the app is nothing more than a glorified reader.
If you still think that statement is still disingenuous, please tell me what the Logos app does offline that is better than other bible readers such as the one by Olive Tree?

The Logos App is designed to be used on-line it is a cloud based product with much of its processing done away from the device.
This is horses for courses - if you want something to work off line then you might find something better than Logos if you want what Logos does best then you need to be on line to get the maximum benefit.
It really is a matter of horses for courses.I still think that even off line Logos is considerably more than a 'glorified book reader'.

I have and use Olive Tree. Olive Tree does not have a reverse interlinear like Logos does, your screen shot above shows me that the word you are highlighting only appears because the CWSB is keyed to Strong's and it brings up a Strong's definition, when you tap on the word. If you used the ESV without Strong's numbering system you could not do this.
The Bible word study of Logos, shows me all the places a certain lemma is used in the NT, the LXX, and the Perseus collections, Church Fathers, and then I can go to any of those resources to see where the Word is used. Also you can get to your grammars and lexicons off the Bible Word Study. You cannot do this in Olive Tree. If you have the resources you can use the Strong's number and go to other lexicons for further information about a Greek Word. Olive Tree has no grammars, that I know of.
I still use Olive Tree for my Bible Study groups that I lead, because at the Church I do not have access to WiFi access. With the resources that I have in Olive Tree, many of them I have had since using their products on my old Palm T5. I use it because I have access to material to answer many questions that get asked.
As was answered the Bible Word Study part of the Logos App requires more power to use.
Both products have their place, but one has to compare apples to apples to get a true comparison.

when it comes to offline Bible study, Olive tree is superior, and it is great for plane rides etc... Logos needs to come up with some way to connect Strongs to the bible for offline use, because without that it is any old book reader. the fact that Olive tree is doing better than the "leading Bible software" is pretty bad. I LOVE Logos on my computer, but I am very disappointed as far as the iPad app goes. I can't even get Strongs to connect to words online, I have to go to the word study option, when all I want is a quick definition. Logos ipad app designers please do something about this, a lot of us in the ministry do a lot of traveling and need to be able to have access to these resources online.

I have always preferred BR for my iPad I had a T5 and my last one was a slightly modified life drive that i still keep charged….although use it less than regularly. Perhaps once ever 6 months for old times sake..

I use with pleasure Accordance as an offline Bible study / Original Language. It works offline enough to satisfy your requests.
And still, I keep Logos, because its more powerful abilities to crosslink tons of resources.
My feeling is: Logos is my offline bible internet, library, devotion, daily study, commentaries - Accordance is my offline exegetical tool, dictionary, quick search

@Faithlife/Logos, more than 3 years have passed and there is still no App with Bible Word Study offline (and also Passage Guide or Exegetical Guide offline). Many users want and need it !!! I need it offline for my iPad !

Logos has never committed to making the mobile app a "full featured" application.
That should definitely be checked out. Many users want it (not necessarily "full featured", but any offline features like BWS)! Does something speak against it?

I find my Asus Vivo Tab Note 8 64 GB running Windows 8.1 handles Logos 6 very nicely. It provided me what an iPad Mini couldn't offline. Dell also has tablets running Windows 8.1 whose owners report real satisfaction with Logos 6. A PCMagazine comparison of tablets running Windows 8.1 helped me decide what I wanted and now treassure.

We don't share our roadmap because plans inevitably change and I'd rather pleasantly surprise you by delivering something you didn't expect than disappoint you by not delivering something you did expect. We do listen to what users ask for here and on UserVoice and we are taking those things into consideration.
