Race conditions involving notes...a quick experiment
I wondered how the following would be resolved...
1. Create highlight and associated note on iPad ("Hello from iPad").
2. See that the note syncs on iPhone...yup, all right and true in the world (very cool, by the way)
3. Edit same note on iPhone ("hello from iPhone").
4. Quickly edit same note on iPad ("Will this update win?")
5. Shake, let stand, be patient and wait for the sync....
I ended up with two notes on both devices. The results seem pretty logical to me (i.e. duplicate the notes in order to prevent one update from overwriting the other). This allows me to make whatever changes are needed / merge as I please.

I assume if you had given the devices more time between updates, you would have had just a single set of notes.
Agreed. Simply pushing around the edges to see the results [:)]
The positive story: the end results were meaningful... typically a Good Thing.
