Mo's blog post today was an elementary (but necessary) primer in understanding the mechanics of what happens when we create a highlight in L4.5. Love it. Appreciate the belated clarification that all or most forum readers have been exposed to on our journey toward Logos-understanding in the post-4.5 era.
I've concluded that (as odd as the coding methodology seems), it doesn't matter how notes/highlights are created or whether I choose to organize them a book-at-a-time or book-by-book or by theme/keyword/author/yada/etc. After a few hundred notes, I'll never be able to actually locate one when needed next time unless I'm willing to invest time in either re-reading all my notes related to a book/author/theme/etc, or keep a spreadsheet (or external database) of them by title/reference/etc. So! Regardless of my own particular and/or peculiar chosen methodology, what we really need is a comprehensive Notes Search function.
If my dear friend Bob is reading this... or a notes/highlights developer, please add this tiny little feature. (Caveat: Its entirely possible that there is a simple note searching methodology that I missed while boycotting forum traffic on the topic (my frustration level was entirely too high re:notes/highlights there for a while), if so, please point me in the right direction and forgive the soap-boxing)
