Bug: Hebrew Morph Search Assembly Causes Massive CPU Spike

I was attempting to help answer this users question and discovered that Hebrew morph searching is nearly impossible in latest beta.

I entered the lemma and typed @. At this point I selected verb from the morph selection box. I then attempted to select Piel. At this point Logos was overwhelmed and could not select anything beyond a verb.

Since discussing Beta, Logos may move this thread to Mac Beta forum.

ApologiesL using Logos 4.5a Beta 5, can replicate search shown => http://community.logos.com/forums/p/45367/337925.aspx#337925

    lemma:דבר.2.v@vp BEFORE 1 WORD עַל BEFORE 1 WORD lemma:לֵב

Note: for first lemma entry, used h:dbr then clicked on desired homograph:

Oops! I did not realize I was in the wrong forum. Hopefully someone will move this to the right place.

So do you mean you are not seeing this problem.

I realized that in the screenshot I did not select the right Hebrew word. When I went back to try with the right word I still got the problem.

Correct; personally unable to replicate morph selection issue using 2.93 GHz Quad Core i7 running Logos 4.5a Beta 5 on Mac OS X 10.6.8

Wonder if restarting Mac affects CPU spike ?

I have confirmed your report that there is a big monopolization of CPU resources when the morph searching is performed against the BHS/WHS 4.2 Biblia Hebraica Stuttgartensia: With Westminster Hebrew Morphology.

I have logged a case about the issue with Development for investigation.

    Thanks for your input Jonathan,

My issue isn't so much an issue with high CPU usage while searching (thought it happens during a search) but with a very high CPU usage while ASSEMBLING the search. I expect it to be high when searching, but it shouldn't spike when selecting a morphological category such as Piel, Hophal, etc.

Thanks for the distinction Jonathan. That information has been captured and presented in the case I opened.

Wonder if Logos 4.5a RC 1 has usable morph searching ?

Logos 4.5a RC 1 release notes include: "Fixed bug where CPU cycles were spiking when assembling a Hebrew Morph Search. (See this thread.)"

The original problem has been fixed. However, opening a morphological search panel is now very slow for me. Takes about 5 minutes before Logos is calmed down enough to allow me to change the settings without a major delay.

Curious about Mac model (e.g. CPU, RAM, graphics) and OS X version ?

Concur 5 minutes is annoying for morph search.  Wonder if 5 minutes includes time for resource drop-down menu to become usable ?

By the way, searches saved in Favorites keep resource selection.
