Please add SCROLLING option versus Page Turn
I would like to have the option to Scroll instead of a Page turn on my iPad/iPhone.
Thank you.

I think the option of having the page scroll on the iPhone/iPad makes the reading easier. The problem is when you are rereading a verse where a page break is, you must flip the page back and forth.
I will even make the font smaller sometimes, however, the eyes are going bad and it makes it hard to see.[8-|]

This is critical for another reason -- if you are trying to copy a block of text from a Bible or other resource that breaks over into another column.
Sometimes you can change the number of columns or font size to get the whole block "together" on the same page (but really small fonts make it difficult to use the copy handles), but sometimes you just can't get that whole block of text in view on one page, thereby requiring multiple copy/paste actions, which is really awkward and time-consuming.
Being able to scroll up or down will help us in most of these situations.

I think page turning (especially with animation) was cool when the iPad first came out, but people quickly realized that traditional scrolling had its merits.
Question: Did scrolling come first or did page turning come first?

Excellent suggestion! If I had to copy a portion of Scripture, I was forced to shrink the font also.

Agreed... Would be very useful!

I like the page turing, but would also appreciate scrolling for copying or highlighting stuff. Please do not remove current function, but add scrolling as an option.

I do too. My biggest complaint relates to copy/highlight difficulties. Having the ability to turn half a page on occasions would work for me.

How about it my friends at Logos... Do we have a shot at having this new option to scroll on the iPad?

I'd really appreciate having this option. [Y]

Hello,
At this point I don't know. I've talked with a couple of Developers about this and written up an inquiry case for it. Although it might seem like a simple change there are many core code and display issues involved and many design problems that will need to be overcome to implement smooth scrolling on mobile devices. That's about all I know.

Is there any way to specify which verse is first on the page? When I select a verse to go to, if it is "far away", that verse is normally first, but if the verse is "nearby", or already on the current page, the position is not changed.

Bill - your fix is the best answer that I have. It's a pain when you need it. [:S]

Concur current workaround is turning pages, then navigate (tap) to desired verse.
Caveat: page turning in The NET Bible with footnotes being displayed can jump as though footnotes were not displayed.
+1 [Y] for scrolling option on iPad. Also would appreciate resource reposition when a verse is tapped.

OliveTree's iPad app has precisely this option: When you select a word, one of the "More" options that appear is to "Start page near <this word>".
Perhaps Logos can do something similar.

I just discovered this option today. Perhaps Logos can do something similar.

Hello,
Just to clarify - an inquiry case is a suggested enhancement and will not necessarily be implemented in a future update. I just wanted to be clear on this point - I didn't say that this feature will be implemented but just that it would be a difficult undertaking and that I didn't know whether it would be or not.

Thanks for the update... I hope they will make this change, as it will be very helpful. I suspect many of the development enhancements are a difficult undertaking, but they seem to get done. Positive thinking [:)]

i think page scrolling option should be added in the page turning and page flipping software of ePublication by which user can easily read ebook according to various platform like iPad, Mac.

Welcome [:D] to the Logos Bible Software forums that primarily focus on using Logos Bible Software.
Thankful for Logos apps on a variety of devices. Also Thankful for many free Vyrso eBooks, which can be used in Vyrso and Logos apps.
By the way, noticed "pseudo" signature has a reference for different e publish solution.
Keep Smiling [:)]

Kevin, Thanks for your reply. I probably attached my post to the wrong item so that it focused on mobiles. My query was in relation to using Logos 4 on my PC. In some of my layouts I get a bible window with page by page scrolling and a commentary with smooth scrolling. If I go to another layout the bible window is smooth scrolling. It appears that something in the way I set up the layout determines which scrolling method is adopted. The page by page seems to be attached to my daily reading plan and perhaps carries back from there to the home page. It would be helpfuk to be able to switch between the methods. Thanks for your concern. Jim

I found a method to do a page turn that will place the desired verse at the top of the page...
If you drag the bottom right corner up to turn on split-screen (iPhone, portrait orientation), you can position the split screen precisely where you want the top of the page to be and then do a page turn. Then drag the split screen back down to the bottom right and you have the page re-positioned. That is how I reposition for copying and hi-lighting text.

Jeff - great idea! I just discovered this myself a few weeks ago. Its not ideal, but workable. [:)]

In the couple of weeks of using Logos 4 and Logos for the iPhone, I have discovered this. It is true that it works, but it is not ideal. I understand the technical difficulties in scrolling up and down from flipping pages. This is, quite frankly, a huge code change. I would have to ask if this feature is the best use of resources right now, as I see other feature much more important if they can fix the issue with going to the right page and verse when moving around in the resource. If they can address this, I think this huge change can be put down lower in the list in my humble opinion again.
On that note, the movement to a particular verse at the top is crucial. Yes, we have ways to get there, but this is a simple navigation tool that will remove a lot of frustration and allow the tool to be used more. Also, the ability to highlight more than one verse if the verse goes to the next page is needed. If this is already possible, I would love to learn how to do this on the iPhone app. Thanks in advance for this.

There is not a way, which is one of the reasons for this thread. The suggestion given by Jeff is the best one that I know of presently… use the split screen feature to hide the part you want to highlight and advance the page. The beginning of the quote will not be at the top. If needed, you can make the page full screen again.
