Lost Notes/Sentence Diagrams

So my mac crashed and I had to restore from my time machine back up. I hadn't backed up for about 6 months, and so when I restored it took awhile for Logos to update new resources etc. I happen to be missing a few notes/sentence diagrams I had worked on in those six months. I have synced through the net, but they are nowhere to be found. Any advice on obtaining these? I thought that Logos stored those things on their servers? Maybe when I logged in on my "older" OSX today it reregistered without the notes? Any ideas?

Firstly, welcome!

It is strange that you appear to have lost notes. You are correct that the note files should be backed up in the cloud and that a fresh install should result in L4 syncing and restoring your user generated documents (note files, etc.).

The issue, I suspect, is related to time machine (which you say you hadn't backed up for about six months).

In summary, Logos may be able to help you recover your lost files. I would contact customer services as soon as you are able. I would not faff too much with L4 until you do this. I cannot guarantee they will be able to help you, but a couple of other users have reported that Logos were able to recover lost files. I would refrain from fiddling with your notes until you have given them opportunity to try and sort things from their end.

There are more expert users who will respond more fully if I have missed something.

if its anything like windows, leave it online for a couple of hours and it should (hopefully) retrieve your missing documents from the cloud

Typing "Sync Now" in the command bar should force this if its taking forever (but it will take time to sync)

I thought I had read somewhere that a version of the note files are stored locally and then synced from this to the cloud. I wondered then if, by restoring from time machine, the OP had 'rolled back' his note files which had then synced the older incomplete versions with the cloud (hence my suggestion that he contact Customer Support)?

However, I gather, from your many posts, that you are more informed than I regarding the internal operations of L4... It could be that I am talking nonsense (it wouldn't be the first time)!

For clarity, I would follow Dominic's advice, but, should this not work, I would contact Customer Support asap.

I wouldn't rename or recreating note files until you have spoken with Customer Support.

Contacting Logos Mac Support => http://www.logos.com/about/contact is one idea.

If have enough disk space, another idea is creating (or using) a different Mac User to install Logos 4 Mac, possibly using wiki Quick Installation onto Multiple Macs => Copy Logos 4 Resources to Mac OS X (Supported – saves resource downloading) to scan (copy) resources, which should also download your notes and sentence diagrams. Once verify that Logos 4 Mac installation has everything, one option is changing something in the missing items to cause newer version to sync.

Third option: if have another computer, could install Logos 4, then update missing items to cause a sync. Wiki Getting Started with Logos => .Installation + Indexing
