BUG: Highlighting Not Working Correctly in NA27 & UBS4
I have to say I was extremely excited to see my NA27 and UBS4 resources on my iPad this morning! Great job Logos!! I have done quite a bit of highlighting in my NA27 on my Mac Logos Desktop and when I opened my NA27 on my iPad, I found that the highlighting didn't match the highlighting on my Mac Desktop. Actually, entire lines of text were erratically highlighted on my iPad including blocks of text that were underlined and highlighted, which was not represented on my Mac Desktop. Upon further testing, I found that when I highlighted individual words in either NA27 or UBS4 on my Mac Desktop, they would only sometimes appear on my iPad and other times would appear with totally different highlighting. Something seems fundamentally wrong with these two resources. I did try highlighting on my ESV and everything seemed fine. I don't know if the problem is specifically in these two resources or the fact that they are in Greek, but for some reason there is a highlighting problem between my iPad and Desktop with the NA27 & UBS4. Thanks.

Hi David
I've just done a quick test and words which are highlighted on my desktop appear fine on my iPad.
I am using Windows (not Mac) and Logos 4.5a Beta 5. What version are you using?
Its possible that this is version or Mac related or that there is something wrong with the instances of the resources which you downloaded.

Graham,
Thanks for testing this on your configuration. I am running the latest release versions of both the Mac and iPad. Is any able to test this on a Mac Desktop/iPad scenario? Thanks.

David - are these resources downloaded to your mobile device? If so, try deleting them from the app and redownloading. I have seen similar problems which are due to using two versions of the resource (i.e. an updated one on you desktop, and older one on your iPad).

Alabama,
Thanks for your reply. I have redownloaded the resources and am experiencing the same problems. Actually, the highlighting issues seem to be erratic. I am able to highlight certain words and it works correctly (From my Mac to iPad) and other highlighted words don't want to show at all. Can someone do me a favor and try this test:
1) From your Mac Desktop open the NA27
2) Go to John 1:5 and highlight the word σκοτία (6th word in the verse NOT the 10th word)
3) See if this word is highlighted on your iPad in NA27
4) Also, go to John 1:9 and highlight κόσμον (last word in the verse)
5) See if this highlights on your iPad in NA27
I am able to get other words in these verses to highlight but not these. Make sure to perform the highlighting on your desktop and sync to your iPad.
Thanks.

David - I can confirm your results. The sixth word (σκοτία) in John 1:5 will not show highlighting on the iPad. I highlighted 2 other words at the same time (just to check). The other two words highlighted, but that word did not. Did you try highlighting the entire verse?

Do you get the same if you don't have the NA27 downloaded?

It is not downloaded on my iPad. I didn't do very well in Greek.

At least that helps with diagnosing this issue!

Thanks, Alabama for confirming this. I was able to highlight the whole verse successfully. Can you try one more test for me?
1) Open NA27 on Mac Desktop
2) Highlight Έγένετο in John 1:6 (1st word)
3) Sync with iPad
Did it highlight all of John 1:1-5 by mistake also for you??? Thanks.

I think that my original suggestion for the problem might be right… but no solution. Here is what I found when I compared the resources on my desktop & iPad.
My Logos 4Mac installation:
LLS:LOGOSNA27

Yes. I think that the problem is that two versions of the same resource are being used by Logos (i.e. one for the desktop; one for the mobile app).

Thanks, Bama
Could you then check to see if the versions of UBS4 are different for your Mac and iPad? I had problems with that resource also. I'm not sure how Logos posts revisions, but it seems as though these should be release simultaneously. May be an oversight or may be a procedural issue. Thanks.

2011-09-28T19:51:59ZGood thinking - I have the same version numbers as you do and I don't get highlighting if I use the specific examples mentioned by David above
EDIT: Sorry, I have just tried them again and the highlighting came through - even though I have different version IDs - I am a little confused now!

Dave - They are different and the mobile versions were updated on the same day. I am going to go out on a hunch and say that there is a reason for the updated mobile version that is mobile app specific.

If you're right, that's disappointing. I really would like to be able to highlight on both without wondering if it is going to make the transition.

I sent an email off and am waiting for a second response. The first responder thought I might be wrong… but it is puzzling that we all have two versions. If I get a more definitive answer before one comes here, I will let you know.

Thanks, Alabama for helping with this! Let us know what you find out.

Yes David, I too can duplicate your issue. In addition, with out realizing it, I selected the McReynolds NA27 and it does the same thing.

Alabama, any word back from Logos on this issue?

Logos,
Could you please give us a response about what's going on with this issue?

I sent an email to Logos support several days ago and have not heard back from them yet. I have also sent them several messages via twitter, and also have not heard anything back on this issue.
This issue, in combination with my disappointment with the stagnation in Mac development, has led me to cancel all my prepubs and community pricing bids (totaling well over a thousand dollars). I just can't see the reason to buy more books from Logos until they start addressing these small, but persistent bugs.
The least that could have been done was to offer the courtesy of an explanation.

I do apologize for the lack of communication on this issue. When we get very busy testing it is easy to have this kind of contact get overlooked.
Our developers are aware of the issue and will be looking into it. Any fix they produce will be showing up first in a future beta and then in release, so it might be some time before this is resolved.
Thanks,
