I can hardly believe this series is not over the top yet! Thiis is a good resource that will get expensive in a short time please place a bid on this for your a
sake and mine. For the price wanted this is a great biblical source!
Here's the link: Cambridge Greek Testament for Schools and Colleges (21 vols.)
I'm in!
Bid $32 long ago
I can hardly believe this series is not over the top yet!
[Y] I completely agree...This thing is moving at a [sn] pace! It's a [:'(] shame. I can't believe the [O] it is taking. Turn my [:(] upside down [:D] and place your bid today! [Y]
Come on, everyone! Let's put this collection over the top!
Do you really want this to go over the top on a Tuesday?
translation: If we wait to cross the line until noon on a Wed PST instead, the CP will close in 9 days instead of 2 days, giving us more time to get the word out, pick up last minute bidders and hopefully drive down the price.
At 80%, unless L-company adjusts the costs, not likely for another year or two. Unfortunately.
Yes [Y]... Or Monday, Wednesday, Thursday, Friday, Saturday, Sunday.
But Tuesday is the earliest date possible [Y].
I agree and I am in!
Already in at $28... very good value for these resources...
What is the difference between the Cambridge Bible SC & this Cambridge GT SC?
Looking at Matthew, noticed same Author: Arthur Carr for Cambridge Bible for Schools and Colleges as the Cambridge Greek New Testament for Schools and Colleges. The difference is vast amount of Greek in Greek New Testament volume that is mostly absent from Cambridge Bible for Schools and Colleges.
Keep Smiling [:)]
Just a few more bids are needed to push this over the top. Would some of you that bid $24 consider changing your bid to $28???
I moved my bid to $28. Hopefully it will go over soon.
Thanks Ken.

Looking at Community Pricing progress => http://www.logos.com/products/search?Status=Community+Pricing&start=&sort=progress&pageSize=15
Noticed => Cambridge Greek Testament for Schools and Colleges (21 vols.) is currently # 2 (my bid dates back to July 2011).
Note: # 1 in progress => Classic Commentaries and Studies on Jeremiah (22 vols.) closes in a week.
At $28 the set, I'm not fussed how few days we have to get the price down. It's a gift!
Needs some more bids of $ 28 to establish a closing date for 5,928 pages and 93 % discount off hard copy at $ 28.
I'm in at $32. How long does it take to get the set once it goes into development? Anybody have a guess? I'm new at this.
Would some of you that bid $24 consider changing your bid to $28???
Just increased mine - but still not enough to take it over the top [:(]
About two months. Depending on the complexity due to language and references.
If not knowing greek is stopping you from bidding on this deal, check the examples. You dont need to know greek in order to use these.[:)]
I am flabbergasted as to why it is not breaking through. With a golden resource like this the scriptures will be opened up and the leaves of dust will be pealed away from the minds of those who wish to expound the treasures of the Word of God!
Come on folks! It's a mere 2,800 pennies! PENNIES!

Well I removed my bid. I'll bid again on Wednesday, as we'll have more time to bring the price down if it crosses then.
I paid $109.95 each for Alford's and Nicoll's Expositor's Greek Testaments in Logos. This Cambridge set, which I bid for when it came out, is a steal! What does it take to make people realize that? Even at $50 it would be worth it.
Currently Community Pricing has a minimum of 48 hours from crossing 100 % line and bidding close. If 100 % crosses before Noon on Wednesday (in Bellingham), closing is Noon Friday in the same week.
Concur Cambridge Greek Testament for Schools and Colleges (21 vols.) is close to having enough $ 28 (or higher) bids for 100 % of estimated production cost to be covered by $ 28 per bidder.

I didn't know the exact time ... so I'll make sure I place my bid again AFTER noon on Wednesday!
Noon is Bellingham time - 3pm Eastern
I didn't know the exact time ... so I'll make sure I place my bid again AFTER noon on Wednesday! Noon is Bellingham time - 3pm Eastern
Noon Wednesday in Bellingham (lunch time) is near the end of dinner time (8 pm) in London and close to Thursday breakfast (7 am) in Sydney, Australia for this time of year.
It seems they have adjusted the pricing. Wasn't the spread $24 to $28. Now it is $2 difference. It is getting sooooo close.
Thankful for community price range adjustment by Logos (from $ 4 to $ 2).
Hurray! Finally! I've been waiting more than a year for this (Dec 2010).
"Bidding will close on 3/2/2012 for Cambridge Greek Testament for Schools and Colleges (21 vols.)"
"The final price for this product will be lower for everyone if we receive enough new bids before the closing date, so please spread the word to anyone you know who may be interested in this. Thank you for your interest in this product!"
(email today)
Hurray! Finally!
It's not hurray when someone puts a CP over the top on a Wednesday morning! Appalling timing

What's appalling? The price can still go down. And even if it goes up to $30 or $50 (which it can't) it's a good deal.
What is this set ??
What's it used for and who uses it?
The moral of the story is this: we need more than just one person who understands CP to remove their bids until after noon Wednesday (Washington time).
What is this set ?? What's it used for and who uses it?
"What is this set?" It's the best deal dollar-wise on a verse-by-verse (actually word-by-word in many instances) commentary on the Greek text of the NT that you can get anywhere. And despite its age, there is much to be gleaned from reading the comments.
"What's it used for and who uses it?" I don't currently use it, since it's not published yet, but ANYONE who works with the Greek NT will want to use it, and since the bulk of the commentary is in English, and a simple click can bring up a lexical definition for the Greek words for those that can't read Greek, even non-Greek readers can get much benefit from it, IMO. Just the cross-references alone are helpful for study (based on looking at the preview pages at the resource page).
What does it take to get people to realize what a bargain this is and that they really, really should get this in Logos if they do any studying or teaching or preaching at all, considering the almost giveaway price?
Jason ... this set, along with its sister already intro'd by Logos (Cambridge Bible for S/C) represented some of the well respected scholars at the turn of the last centruy. So if you enjoy some of their writings, this one has a considerable amount of detail on the greek, more so than the Cambridge Bible.
As an example, yesterday I was in a book published just a few years ago, and it repeatedly referenced some of these older volumes. Certainly there's been new discoveries since then (papyri, archaeology), but some of the areas they dove into were unique.
Personally, I want the Plummer volumes.
The other issue is simply the cost. To get Plummer's Epistles of John volume on Amazon, you're looking at about $20 paperback. Logos gives you the whole set for $6-8 more AND it's fully indexed / cross-referenced.
And so, some of the excitement.
my bid has been at 28$, you want me to lower it? I [|-)]would [:P] like to have these........
What needs done to lower this CP price? I bid $80 in like Oct or something.
What's appalling?
Sigh [:(] Basically the apparent inability of some people to grasp what is really a simple concept. It is depressing that there are still a number of people bidding in the CP marketplace who clearly just do not understand how it works, or at least how to get the best deal from the process.
By taking the product over the line on a Wednesday morning we are left with only two days to try and drive the price down. Had whoever made the bid this morning waited for just 8 hours and placed their bid after 3pm Eastern Time instead, we would have a full nine days to drive the price down.
It is a missed opportunity to turn a good deal into a great one.

But David, weren't you one of the ones who increased their bid before today? Therefore you helped this go over. I've had my bid at the peak for a long time, but when I saw it was close, I lowered my bid to slow it down. Had you kept yours low, and had others lowered their bids to delay this, we would have had that time.
So there's nothing I can do ... ?
Hm.
Jason ... the only thing now is for (1) people below $26-28 to increase their bids or (2) more people join the party and bid on the resource.
Everyone ABOVE the $28 is already included in the calculation; they need do (and can do) nothing to reduce the price.
I can guarantee, if someone does much work in greek, that if they miss this CP window, they'll be searching for a mirror for someone to blame.
Glad I saw this thread, I almost missed out on this! I really need to start cutting back, but these CP deals are just too good.
I think many of us understand the community pricing model perfectly. I bid for a price I'm willing to pay and if enough people do the same then resources will be made available in the Logos format for a fraction of the cost that it would take to acquire them through other means. To that end, if I bed $28 for a resource that I want then I'm doing what I need to.
This constant hand-wringing over when we place our bids drives me crazy. Let's not try to manipulate the process any more than we need do. Let's just be happy that a resource will be made available. From my perspective, if this is a resource I want (and it is since I bid on it) then I want it as soon as possible. I understand encouraging people to bid as a means to lower the price, but let's not get so legalistic that we start telling people WHEN they should bid. Let's just be happy that we're getting a great resource at an affordable price. I won't complain if I pay $28 vs. $20.
As someone that's taking Introductory Greek this semester, and will be taking intermediate over the summer, and then advanced exegesis in the fall I'm just happy this will be available to me!

No-one's forcing you to do whatever you want. But don't begrudge the rest of us trying to use the process to our greater benefit. Maybe you have a lot of spare cash to throw around, but I don't, and saving $8 on this actually would have been worth it for me and for others. All that people on here are doing are making others aware of how their choices affect the process, so that they can decide whether it's worth holding on to their bid for a few more hours or not. And an eight hour delay on this would not have made any substantial difference to the production time.
But David, weren't you one of the ones who increased their bid before today?
Yes I did Dean - or is it Mr 053? [:D] But I increased my bid on Saturday, hoping it would have taken it over the top at the weekend - which would have given us and Logos the best part of a full week to promote and potentially drive the price down. Prior to Saturday I had a bid of $24 which I had placed many many months ago.
At the end of the day, people are clearly free to bid what they want, when they want. It is just disappointing we missed an opportunity for an even better price.
That being said, I am pleased that at long last we have crossed the finishing line! [:D]

Indeed [Y]
I do hope we all get the hang of this though by the time something really expensive goes over the top!
