What Hebrew bible are you using? Why?
BHS. Because it's what I was taught with in Biblical Exegesis class.
Thanks Rosie!
Do you know what the difference is between:
Biblia Hebraica Stuttgartensia (BHS Hebrew): With Westminster 4.2 Morphology
And
Biblia Hebraica Stuttgartensia: With Werkgroep Informatica, Vrije Universiteit Morphology
I own Biblia Hebraica Stuttgartensia: With Werkgroep Informatica, Vrije Universiteit Morphology. However in watching a few video's I noticed individuals using Biblia Hebraica Stuttgartensia (BHS Hebrew): With Westminster 4.2 Morphology.
Is one more useful than the other?
Thanks again![:)]
Yes, I do know the difference. I have both. The text is the same, it's the morphological coding behind the words that is different. Westminster 4.2 and Werkgroep Informatica (WIVU) are two different systems of encoding the grammatical information. Pick whichever one makes the most sense to the way you learned to think about grammar. You can see a listing of the different morphological coding systems here: http://wiki.logos.com/Morphology_Codes
EDIT: I personally use the Westminster one, but that's only because I know someone who works as an editor at the Westminster Hebrew Institute (now called the J. Alan Groves Center for Advanced Biblical Research), so I feel a mild sort of loyalty to using the system he and his folks worked out: http://www.grovescenter.org/GC/projects/westminster-hebrew-morphology/whm
