Thank You for Notes and Highligting

I love the way it all works.  Thank You!  I am curious though. I made a lot of notes last night on my laptop to use for a study I'm leading this evening on my IPad. This morning when I checked my IPad they hadn't transfered over. I checked later at lunch and they still hadn't updated to my IPad.  I was just getting ready to ask for some help in case I had something set wrong on my laptop that prevented my notes from updating to the IPad. Right before I started this message I checked my IPad and it had updated.  My question is how long does it take to update -- how far ahead of time do I have to do my lesson prep to ensure my notes have time to update/transfer?
