turn off search auto suggest

I really like Logos, but the auto suggest in every search dialogue box really winds me up. I don't need it. Often, I have to select the box twice because the auto suggest clears the box or whilst typing it messes up what I'm looking for with its suggestions.

Is there any way of globally turning off the auto suggest feature in all the search boxes?

Are you talking about your Mac or your iOS device? I have never had Logos change or suggest any spelling. Have you tried right clicking in the search box and changing the "Spelling and Grammar" settings (which are an OSX feature, not Logos)?

He is referring to the pick list that appears when you start typing in a search box. For example, type in g:doxa and a large number of possible options appear below. If you press enter, it usually grabs the first line listed even if that is not what you want or the box clear out or there is other unexpected behavior. I experience it every time I use the product and it occurs in almost every selectable field (included scripture reference boxes for Bibles).

Happens to me frequently as well. Only some hours ago I tried a number of times to type Mark [something] into a Bible reference box, but every time I hit enter it reverted to what was already there. I had to t-y-p-e r-e-a-l s-l-o-w and wait for the dropdown to populate between every single letter before I could finally get to where I wanted to go. Very annoying!

I don't want it turned off, though, I just want them to finally fix this bug that's been there like forever, so that it works like it's supposed to.

I would not call that "auto suggest" and it has never changed what I type. On the iPad, however, it does bring up "auto suggest," but this is an iOS "feature." That is really annoying because you might type "BECNT" and end up with "Because" (or the like).

I believe you (and fgh too!) but I have never experienced this. When I start typing, the drop down box does appear, but nothing ever gets selected or chosen unless I tell it to (i.e. "sanctiffication" or "sancti" will not search for "sanctification" - "sancti" does pull up sanctification, but only because "sancti" is in the word).

Definitely referring to the Mac Desktop programme.

I don't know what you call it, but as has been mentioned in every search field Logos attempts to, "help you out" by listing what you could be looking for. This often interrupts typing and sometimes (fairly often) results in unpredictable behaviour.

I really wish I could turn it off, I don't need the suggestions. It also seems to slow down the process of searching for stuff and as an avid keyboard user, I have to look at every field in logos I type into to make sure the auto-suggest hasn't hijacked the field.

Also, it totally ruins using applescript, because when you try to get applescript to insert something in the field the "auto-suggest/ pick list..." interferes.

We usually call it a dropdown.

I don't use it much, but it's pretty necessary when, for example, writing transliterated Hebrew. Logos can't know what s or t or ch I'm thinking of.

Ya it usually causes more harm then good. It's only when I want specific Greek words that it comes into help for me. Accent marks especially can be picked up faster when I just use the drop down. Other than that, it slows me down.

I don't have much problem with this either, that I remember now (though it has happened). What I do have constant problems with is boxes that revert the second I hit enter, usually to what was already there, but sometimes to e g a search I did earlier that day, or some days ago. Occasionally it's my own fault -- I've misspelt or tried to enter 6:20 when chapter 6 only has 19 verses [:$] -- but usually the entry was perfectly OK. Like this morning when it worked when I typed r-e-a-l s-l-o-w, but not when I typed normally.

That would be true if those accents weren't too small for me to see...

Wait, you said Greek. Greek I know well enough to be able to guess fairly well what's there. It's the Hebrew vowels I can't see.
