I am working on a study / sermon on the return from exile. Does anyone have any recommendations for resources covering the exile or the return either in Logos or print media?
One book covering the Exile and the return would be the Old Testament Survey Series: The Books of History. This book is found in Bible Study Library, Leaders Library, all Scholars Libraries, Platinum, and Portfolio. I have opened the table of contents for you to view in case you do not have the resource. Clicking on image will enlarge it.
Not to state the obvious, but commentaries in your library on Ezekiel, Ezra, & Nehemiah would also be good sources.
Logos makes it so easy to check them that I tend to scan them all & select based on usefulness to a particular text... are you preaching from anything in particular?
Thanks Scott. Yes I do have this resource. Thanks for the tip.
Thanks Bill. Though I haven't firmed it up yet, I want to do my background studies first. I am looking at Nehemiah 1:1-4 as my key text.
I've heard good things about Edersheim's Bible History: Old Testament. It is apparently included in all base packages.
You might try
Leading Captivity Captive: "The Exile" as History and Ideology. Edited by Grabbe, Lester L. Sheffield: Sheffield Academic Press, 1998.
I haven't read it yet myself, but from the TOC, I suspect you won't agree with much (though you should be aware).
Thanks George. It looks like it would be a good read. But at $155 for 161 pages, it is probably not what I would purchase.
Only $999.95 if you buy the set [;)]

One option is searching Heading Text; Large Text looking for topical articles:
I am looking at Nehemiah 1:1-4 as my key text.
Option: can search library for Bible reference (similar to Cited By):
Note: my "English Library without Bibles" collection uses rule: Language:English -Type:Bible

Thanks Smiling. This really helps. I am still learning how to use Logos and have quite a number of resources. I guess I need to work through the training videos. God bless.

Wiki has Getting Started with Logos with Tips and links, including video tutorials.
Thankful for many friendly forum discussions; personally have learned a lot plus have a lot to learn.
