Reading CD-Rom

I have The Complete Works of Oswald Chambers which came with a CD-Rom version of the print edition.  I would like to be able to read it.  It mentions Libronix(Logos) software.  Is that what I need to read this?  I downloaded the Libronix Library software.  Is that what I need.  Nothing seems to work so I can read this and search it.

Your help would be much appreciated.

Luella ... welcome to the forums!

Based on what you wrote, you should be able to insert the CD-ROM in your computer and it will install Libronix from the CD itself. In addition to the works of Chambers, it also contains a KJV Bilbe for initial cross-referencing. If the CD-ROM doesn't automatically install, then go to the CD drive and click on the correct version of setup. If you're using Internet Explorer 9 and have further problems, please reply back.

And for anyone passing through, the back cover:

The Complete Works of Oswald Chambers with companion CD-ROM

My Utmost for His Highest is the best-selling devotional book of all time. Yet many who have benefited from that popular daily devotion have yet to be introduced to the rest of Oswald Chambers' work. Mr. Chambers' incisive teaching and invigorating style can be discovered on the pages of such books as Biblical Psychology; God's Workmanship; If Ye Shall Ask; So Send I You; and Studies in the Sermon on the Mount—more than 40 titles in all!

Now for the first time readers can own the entire Oswald Chambers' library in one volume, plus a CD-ROM version of the print edition. Also included in the CD-ROM is David McCasland's inspiring biography, Oswald Chambers: Abandoned to God.

The Complete Works of Oswald Chambers offers these exciting new features:
Fully searchable CD-ROM using the popular Libronix™ (Logos) software
Helpful new footnotes by biographer David McCasland
Previously unpublished material on Isaiah, Jeremiah, and Ezekiel
General index of people, places, and terms
    Historical background for each book

    The CD-ROM features:
The Complete Works of Oswald Chambers
Links to all footnotes and Scripture references
Complete text of the Authorized (King James) Version of the Scriptures
Full text of Oswald Chambers: Abandoned to God, the biography by David McCasland
    Photos from Abandoned to God
Video interview with Kathleen Chambers, only child of Oswald and Biddy Chambers

"If myth is ideology in narrative form, then scholarship is myth with footnotes." B. Lincolm 1999.

    Welcome [:D]

Suspect CD-Rom includes older Libronix software.  Logos support has Libronix 3 articles => http://www.logos.com/L3/support/windows that includes => Download the Latest Version (3.0g) and => Libronix and Internet Explorer 9

Wiki has => http://wiki.logos.com/Installing_Libronix_Books that includes a tip about running AutoUpdate.lbxupd on CD to add resource(s) to a Libronix 3.0g installation (since setup on CD-Rom may not work with Windows 7).

Note: Libronix 3.0g was shipped in 2009.  As of 1 Mar 2012, Logos no longer produces resources for Libronix 3; only for Logos 4.

    Keep Smiling [:)]

    Luella,

yes, Libronix (Logos version 3) will read this. Logod 4 will read this, too, and (pace Denise) is an overall nicer software. I have the same book, and IIRC the resources did not even require an activation code. I think we discussed this in another thread, and I ordered the book since it contains all of Oswald Chambers' works in print as well as in Logos format plus the not-printed biography on the CD-Rom.

You may download Logos 4 for free from here: http://www.logos.com/windows/support/install and, when it runs, try putting "scan DVD" into the command box in top the middle of the screen - this will seem to do nothing, just close the L4 program and start it again and it will hopefully fetch the files. If you already installed it on Libronix, just use the L3 menu item "tools/synchronize licences" and L4 will automatically download the stuff upon next startup.

In case of any problems, come back here and we'll try to help you.

    Hi Mick,

I also have the same book and tried following your instructions.  I entered "scan DVD" (and it kept automatically changing it to "scan D:", which is my DVD drive).  Unfortunately, after closing it and restarting it several times, it does not show up.  It doesn't seem to recognize it.  Any other thoughts?

    Thanks!

Hi James, welcome to the forums!

If scan doesn't work, my next try would be to install Libronix (should run from the CD-ROM), updating it to latest version (should do automatically) and synchronizing the licence. But that's me.

Alternatively, you might just call Logos Customer Service, proof that you are a legitimate owner of the book and have them activate the licence to your account.

    Hope this helps,

    Mick
