Motorola XYBOARD 10.1

Looking to purchase a tablet and wanted some information on how LOGOS works with the Motorola XYBOARD.  If you have the XYBOARD I would love to hear some reviews before I make a purchase.

I have a Galaxy 8.9 and that works great with Logos.  Everything should be similar except you'd have a little bigger screen so the pixel density for text clarity wouldn't be quite as high (150ppi vs.170ppi on mine, but still noticeably better than an iPad2 with 132ppi).  You'd have a dual-core 1.2GHz which would be a bit faster than the dual core 1GHz processor in my Galaxy Tab.  Are you asking for reviews of Logos on an Android tablet or only quirks/pros/cons specific to the Xyboard? 

Remember also that the Android version of the Logos app is lacking in terms of features vs. the iPad version - still no offline search, batch download of resources (vs. 1 at a time), or notes/highlighting.  Not that I'm pushing you toward an iPad, but so that you're aware of limitations.

Daniel,  Thanks for the response.  I was looking for quirks/pros/cons for the XYBOARD.  I have not made up my mind whether to purchase a ANDROID or IPAD.  It seems by reading the blogs on the forum that the Logos works best with the IPAD.

I understand.  Sorry I can't help you out with the Xyboard info as I haven't looked at one.  It appears they're only sold in Verizon stores? 

Logos works 'best' for the iPad in terms of having more features at the moment.  If they add in to the Android app those three features I mentioned, then both the iPad and various Android tablets (at least name brands - Asus, Samsung, Acer, Motorola, etc) should work pretty similarly.  But, if you're going to spend $450+, I'd consider the new iPad with its higher resolution screen = even better text for reading.  Or, keep an eye out for the Transformer Infinity by Asus, with similarly high resolution, though who knows what the price will be.  Unfortunately there aren't any other high-resolution Android tablets announced at the moment, but I'm sure Apple's new iPad will push more Android tablet manufacturers to move that direction.  My budget was $350 or less so that's why I went with the Samsung vs. the new iPad, plus some things I like to do in Android I can't do on an iPad. 

One last thought.  Other than the Nook Color/Tablet, which you have to tinker with/root/hack to work with Logos, or the Kindle Fire, or a few older models that are discontinued (e.g. Acer A500), most of the cheap (sub-$300) Android tablets will probably frustrate you to no end.  At least they do for me.  Especially in terms of text clarity for reading. 

An example is the Archos 80 G9 sold by Staples for about $225.  The features look great on paper but the screen is really fuzzy (more the background than the text) which ruins the whole experience in my opinion.  Or, some of the cheaper offerings from a company like Velocity Micro, e.g. the T301 tablet they sell at Walmart for around $100, also have OK features on paper but have a fuzzy screen.  You probably have to look at the device in person to see if it will work for you for easy and comfortable reading.  Personally I've found IPS type screens (e.g. in the iPad/more expensive Android tablets) or PLS screens (Samsung's LCD tech which is like IPS) work best.

While your post is from 2012, some advice still holds up. iPads still offer more features for Logos, and high-res screens are crucial for comfortable reading. Consider the latest iPad or a high-res Android tablet like the Asus Transformer Infinity. Avoid cheap tablets with fuzzy screens, they'll frustrate you. Focus on IPS or PLS displays for optimal clarity. Ultimately, choose the platform (iOS or Android) based on your budget and preferred apps beyond Logos. Good luck!
