Search Help: Cohortative 1stPers Heb. Verbs translated "I Will"

OK - I'm halfway there. I've found all the first person cohortative verbs in the Psalms in ESV using a Morph search.

Now I want to restrict the search to hits translated in ESV as "I will ..." e.g. Ps 13:6

Is this possible? Calling all search syntax gurus.

If you ever want to know what type of information you can search for in a given text, click the "i" in a circle (information button) in the upper right hand corner. You'll notice in the ESV, if you scroll to the bottom of the information, that there is a search field called "surface" that allows you to search the "surface text" (see pic below). So to construct the search you're looking for, we would use the following:

@V??CS?1 AND surface:I will.

This will find every 1st person cohortative that also (AND) contains the surface text "I will" (surface:will).

Does that make sense? I get 179 results in 62 verses.

EDIT: Specifying the verb as singular in the morphological search is unnecessary (the results are the same if you do not), but I suppose it serves as an extra check against getting extraneous results.

I did the search and the surface text is not keeping with "will"...can you shed light?

Actually, you're correct. I just noticed it. If you change the search to @V??CS?1 AND surface:will there's an extraneous hit (Psalm 85:8). It contains a 1st person cohortative "Let me hear" and then later the word "will."

I tried changing the search to @V??CS?1 ANDEQUALS surface:will but that doesn't work.

So my search works, but not exactly the way it should. Any thoughts on how to make it more precise?

Yes,

surface:will doesn't help as much as surface: I will because the word "will" doesn't need to be a part of the cohortative. So it will be in the search, but not necessarily with the verb. I'm trying to work out a better search now.

So it seems like the problem is that ANDEQUALS works with lemma: but not with specified morphology (@).

Perhaps this will work better.

@V??CS?1 WITHIN 1 words surface:will

This gives 128 results in 51 verses (narrowed it down a bit).

Yes, that's because there are actually 2 distinct hits (or more) per verse: the verb and the surface text "will."

Also, while the latest search I gave is better (using WITHIN 1 words), it's still not perfect. If you look at the interlinear, you'll notice that "I" and "will" are not actually the surface text of the verb. So if the verb is translated "I will tell" (Ps 2:7, see below), the text that is actually linked to the verb is "tell," not "I will tell." This is why we must use "WITHIN 1 words" and not "WITHIN 0 words". The latter (if it worked) would allow you to not have the problem with aligned verses, but as it is, you will get 2 hits per verse, one for the verb the other for "will".
